Are there going to be new ipad airs released this year too? Normally they have two events, one for iphones, and then one for ipads.

tdgeek: Normally October announcement?

I am not sure, because why wouldn't they have announce the ipad pro for the october event. What is it going to leave for an October event, espeically as ipods are essentially dead and have been removed from the main menu. Also what can they really do to the ipad air, apart from improve it's processor to the A9. They can't put 3d touch in because I don't think the new ipad pro has it.  Also the Macrumors site say there is no update for the ipad air until 2016 (http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/) , but they still have it classed as 'don't buy'. I suspect they may update it early next year. I am thinking of buying an air 2 because I need to replace an older ipad that is too slow, and the NZ dollar means that apple have today put up their ipad prices, but you can buy the ipad air 2 $100 cheaper from some NZ retailers at the moment. But if an air 3 comes out in the next month, it will be annoying.

I would be VERY surprised if there is an iPad Air 3 coming out this year. The pundits don't expect there to be another Apple event this year.

If there was to be an iPad Air 3 this year, it would have been announced with the rest of the lineup.

I think I agree. I mean what else is there to really announce, apart from Mac updates, or a totally new product, but can't see an Apple TV screen now. I think there maybe ipad updates early next year, as they don't want to steal exposure away from the pro, and they really want to sell that new product over their other ipads.

Good points. Apple were to announce their SVOD service but that didn't make it which was known. iPad Air/Mini? MacBooks? Apple Extreme needs AC. Game controllers related stuff? Maybe some iOS9 OSX significant updates?

I watched the keynote and they also announced an new ipad mini 4, which matches the ipad air 2 specs. So I think that is it for ipads this year.

No new Ipad Air would be good news as it keeps my Ipad Air 2 top of the range for a little while longer.

That also means that the upgrade cycle will push to next year, hopefully the NZD will recover a bit by then.

Interesting that they dropped the iPad Mini 3 from the line up. I know it was essentially the same as the iPad Mini 2 apart from Touch ID, but you'd think they would drop the 2 and keep the 3.

Probably not enough difference in specs, although they do have both the air and air 2. They have dropped newer models and kept older ones before.

Anyone know of any stores doing deals on current ipads at the moment?Apparently there was a deal at warehouse stationary for $100 off all ipads mentioned on the radio, but can't see any mention of it anywhere on their website. Dick Smiths look to be offering $50 off.
