So friday has come and gone and noone has commented on how it went. I saw a line of about 100 outside Bond and Bond on friday evening. I wonder how many got one.

I don't understand why anyone would queue for one of these things.

Are peoples lives so sad ?

Ipad is nice, but, you must be nuts to waste time standing in a line for one.

To an observer Apple is an organization that operates in the stratosphere above others and they are possibly not ashamed of admitting that.

Ownership of their products transcends all meaning - beyond the rational consumer behaviour. Many studies have been done on that. I've said it before and to reiterate as some would say it gives people the access to an implicit membership of a society of people who will (or believe they will) redefine technology and how it will be used or consumed

There is nothing stopping other manufacturers like Happy Golden Lotus Laptop Company to churn out great tablet devices. Sadly they don't and even if they did their marketing model has never seen the success that Apple has managed to create in terms of getting people to line up or talk about products that have yet to exist.

Next time you see people queueing up for some superstars concert or next rugby tickets, ask them why they live their lives so sad??

Looks like white ones will ship earlier than black ones.

@Bobmeister, really? AFAIK the shipping time changed from 2-3 weeks to 3-4 weeks later in the morning. A few of us ordered during 2:30am when it hit live.

Each to his own, eh. What's sad in one person's life is fun and excitement in another's.

I saw 200 people waiting for two hours in the rain at YooBee Newmarket and thought 'Nope, that's too sad for me'.

Went round the corner and was first in line at DSE. So I wasn't in a line because I was No 1 but I did wait for 1 1/4 hours. It was a relatively pleasant experience and I was pleased to get the iPad. If there had been also a queue at DSE I would have just flagged it and waited until stock was feely available.

So I guess that makes me a half-sad half-nut?

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Lets see, what else to we lineup for:

Fast food,
Movie Tickets,
Concerts,
Petrol,
So I guess we are all sad individuals,

But the probably the biggest reason geeks lineup for Ipads and iphones is to get them now instead of waiting 5 to 6 weeks or longer on order from the apple online store.

So, just thinking on it,
the reason why I lined up was because I wanted one now not in 6 weeks :-)

No it depends when you ordered them. I stayed up until 2am on Friday morning and order mine, and at that stage it said the wait would be 2-3 weeks. My cover has arrived today, and the ipad which is a 64GB black one is due to arrive on the 15th April. So that is only a 2-3 week wait, and it maybe shorter, as originally the cover wasn't due to arrive for 2 weeks.
