Works nicely. Was able to download and use AppleTV apps from Norway :) Looking forward to BBC releasing the iPlayer, will be making sure I get myself a UK account at that point.

Any NZ apps available already?

I think I will let someone else play with that. If it works as on the iPhone you should be able to log into another iTunes account and download the apps. That would be great.

Well, I have done it for you! And it is glorious. Go into settings, to Accounts, and it has an "add accounts" bit so I logged into my US, UK and Aussie iTunes accounts, downloading apps as I went. Nothing for the UK channels yet - though there was the TVPlayer app which gives you free free-to-air access to some of the UK channels. Aussie has a TenPlay app already. All the apps, regardless of where they came from, stay on the screen. I watched a bit of a show on TenPlay (while still logged into Aussie iTunes) and then went to the Hulu app which came from the US store and watched a bit of The Voice on that. So, like the PlayStation, it seems you just need to change iTunes accounts to download the apps, then you can stay on whichever one you like while you use them. Once more channels come out with apps, it'll be fantastic.

Other thoughts - the interface is very smooth and fast, and while it's a pain not having a proper keyboard for it yet, the touch remote makes manual entry much faster than with the old click remote.

I just asked Siri to shut the device down, and while it can't do that, it did display instructions for the hot-key sleep (long-press home button).

The Menu button is "back one screen", if you are looking for it like I was.

SimpleX isn't bad, I've downloaded that. My main issue is my Plex server not identifying all my files at the moment. Shouldn't have renamed them when I downloaded them, lol.

Edited to add: Awesomely, the Accounts section remembers all the Apple IDs you've added, and you can just flick between them by scrolling up and down and selecting the one you want. At the moment I've got home sharing and iCloud on my NZ account, and the device set to my US one. So far, very happy. It's doing exactly the things I wanted, and now the downside is waiting for broadcasters to develop their apps.

I was logged into my Aussie iTunes account when I viewed both TenPlay and Hulu :)

LOL. Go to iTunes, change your location to the store you want, find a free app and download it. It'll prompt you to set up an Apple ID for that store. Make sure you use a valid address for the country in question. I used my US and UK YouShop address and phone number (and for Aussie the address of the holiday home we rented last year). If you have an AirNZ OneSmart MasterCard you can use that for payment details. If not decline to provide a credit card. In that case you will need to buy gift cards online if you ever want to buy pay apps. But it'll be fine for downloading free apps like TV station ones. The challenge is remembering all the logins and passwords :)

Hopefully I've remembered that correctly.

Yes. You don't need it to get the apps but the streaming requires geo-unblock. I use Unotelly.

Mine arrived yesterday but I ended up ordering one via US so I had cancelled the NZ order.. so had to leave it in the box and wait for it to get picked up, then wait a couple of weeks for one from the US

Oh, forgot to mention that it worked off the bat with my Harmony One remote. Responded to the "Watch Apple TV" command I'd set up for the ATV3 without any changes being made.

I can't wait for more apps.

First impressions are really good. It's a little like the early days of iPhone, just have to wait for decent apps to come out (some good already though). Oddly I couldn't get my Apple bluetooth keyboard to pair. It was the first thing I tried I knew was going to embark on entering a lot of passwords! Haven't tried the PS4 controller yet but I doubt that'll work.

Being able to seamlessly switch between apps from different regions is fantastic and it's really what makes it useful. I downloaded one game as Apple TV recognised I had it on my phone. I'm not going to bother with buying games as I have a PS4 though, kind of gimmicky. I'm bought the ATV for streaming apps and this looks promising.

The ATV/apps seem snappy, quick and nicely presented which is a big plus. I didn't realise how useful Siri would be until I played with it either

It was also very easy to map my stereo volume control to the Apple remote IR blaster. I can change volume with either the ATV remote or my Harmony which is nice.

I couldn't get an MS Wedge to pair either. Went out, got Apple Wireless Keyboard (BT), that wouldn't pair either. Then found https://support.apple.com/en-nz/HT202670 (:annoyed:)

My general impression is that it's a significant improvement over the gen 3. Last time I timed the Gen 3 it was 60 seconds from Main Screen to being able to watch something, most of the time standing around watching the little loading circle thing waiting for a button to push. Timed the new arrival just now, and 13 seconds. The whole thing seems pretty responsive and brings the apple tv out of the dark ages. The main downside for me is the software keyboard. Having to input passwords that required "1 number", "1 upper case letter", "1 symbol that's on the 25th page of symbols" is pretty tedious, even more so than the previous version's software keyboard.

[Edit: Following question no longer relevant, but leaving it here for completeness - Problem solved; somehow the Apple TV was logged into a non-US apple store instead of the US apple store]

Has anyone been able to get Siri Universal Search working? I'm not sure exactly how it's supposed to work, but I'm assuming that I should be able to say: "I want to watch the 100" and get a result other than "Sorry, I couldn't find anything called 'The 100'". I have a US Apple account, US Netflix sub, Hulu sub. Kind of feel like I'm missing something obvious, but don't know what it is.

Agreed. I went with the 64GB version and am very happy with the response times compared to the ATV3.

A few negatives for me so far are...

1. My passive HDMI splitters (that work with almost all of my other AV gear) no longer work with the ATV4. I had the same problem with the PS4. It seems that the HDMI port does not output enough power to activate the splitter or in the case of the PS4, it output pulses rapidly. I will need to get another powered splitter to share this box to the other room.

2. I would have been pleased to see a bit streaming option added to the audio menu. I prefer to bitstream audio to my expensive AV Receivers and have them do the audio decoding.

3. I am a fan of the 'IOS Apple Remote' because of the built in keyboard and because my custom built remote control system operates everything via our iPads and iPhones. The IOS remote is not compatible with the ATV4.

Yes, I know that it can be argued that the new remote with Siri replaces the old TCP/IP remote but it still means another two things (remote and keyboard) that one has to find if you want to control and type text on the ATV4. It also makes it difficult to share this box via a splitter to two rooms.

It was nice to see that the IR control was retained.

Yes the apple remote app not working via iPhone or watch is annoying they should fix this.

Also universal search isn't working for me. Netflix titles are not showing in the results, only iTunes stuff which is really annoying.
