tardtasticx: Ohhhhh. Credit card has been charged properly by Apple, not just a hold like before. Likely means it’s been shipped/about to ship?
Apple store online and app stil shows status as preparing to ship.
It’s starting to feel a little like the night before Christmas, only someone else isn’t paying :-)
See, told you :P
I would say that a few of you will get emails this morning saying it has shipped. Charging of the credit card is 1 of the last steps :)

Spark digital had the following in there portal:
Pre-orders will ship from the 2nd of November (subject to availability)
So in theory they should ship today. However, my order placed at 8:04pm (which I was told should come from the first shipment) is still listed as backordered.
So who knows? I'm not holding my breath for delivery on the 3rd.
In a moment of weakness I preordered yesterday. Hopefully I'm not too late to pick up in the first batch tomorrow. If it's longer than a few weeks away I might cancel now that I've come back to my senses :)

NZ carriers get a raw deal with pre-orders. From what I understand, they never know the quantities of what they are going to receive on release day, so they can’t give you an ETA. Carriers in the USA must be tied into an Apple API because they give their customers proper ETAs similar to Apples timeframes.
All the times I’ve ordered through Vodafone have been a balls up. Learnt my lesson.
Went direct through Apple this time. Got in at 8:02 and got a shipment date of 3rd. Let’s wait and see.
Thats what they say...blah blah
But I can inform you that they they take most of what they get for their own execs and key commercial customers. That can be quite a lot of hardware. Not complaining as it is their choice CEO's etc of their client organisations are really important to them.
This guy is probably a bit biased...but a good read.

Sounds like its a very good piece of kit. I am just not convinced on having to hold it up to my face to unlock it, so going to wait a bit longer.

You could probably still use PIN unlock right?
Heard from 2Degrees just now - I ordered at 8:10 on Friday night, and after initially being told that I won't know anything until launch day (not even a rough idea of the delivery window, whether it's early or late Nov), they sent me this:
"Thanks for getting in touch. Since you have ordered it online right 10 minutes after it launched I can see that you will be getting the iPhone X straight after launch. This means that you will be getting the early November delivery as you did get in early enough before they sold out.
We aim to get it sent out so that you receive it on launch day, although we cannot guarantee this as it's all depending on the courier. The reason why you won’t get an ETA right now is because you get an accurate one once it has been shipped, which you will be able to view with the track and track number that you’ll be emailed."
So I guess I'll be working from home on Friday!

I'm in the same boat, my order went through at 8:05pm Friday night and 2degrees have said I should get it "tomorrow or soon after, depending on the courier".
Being in metro Auckland, I'm hopeful that means it will get to me tomorrow.
Siri, clear my schedule for Friday!

Haha, same! Though I've been pretty unlucky with couriers lately... I offered to pick it up in store, but they haven't replied yet. I'm expecting my tracking number tonight, or early tomorrow morning.

I checked my old emails for the tracking info for my vintage iPhone 7 delivery last year. The tracking info was sent at 2:06pm on 15/9/16 (with release day being Friday 16/9/16, which is when I received the phone). So hopefully the same happens today!
