Wondering how many will be pre ordering the new iphone X next week?

Some commentators are warning not to be too quick and to wait and see if it has any issues.

I suspect that few people will preorder next week, instead preferring to preorder tomorrow (since that's when preorders open) wink

For the first time since getting my iPhone 3GS I haven't been looking forward to the new iPhone (either 8 or X).  It seems like a bit of a yawn fest this time around. Won't be pre ordering and I actually don't think i'll be post ordering either :-)

I will be frantically refreshing the Apple online store on my Mac, iPhone and iPad from about 19:55 tomorrow. Will also pre-order through 2degrees as soon as they allow it (hedging my bets as to which one will deliver first).

Fingers crossed there is enough stock allocated to Day 1 orders in NZ.

Ordering through Spark, I hope they have enough.

Noel Leemings called me yesterday to see if I'd like to book in for a preorder on Friday, once customer services said "only available on a plan through 2D" I gracefully declined as with all my phones I buy outright to avoid being locked into 2 year plans. My phone number is like the town bike, every telco has had a ride at some point, we go where the best open term plan is.

Besides that, I'm looking to buy another house early next year, can't have the bank asking me why I dropped 2K on a phone.

Plan to buy direct from the Apple store app. Contemplating getting AppleCare. I keep phones for 3 years usually, only an additional $100ish per year. Yikes.

I too will be ordering through the Apple store. Also just curious why do people order through Spark or Vodafone? I'm assuming just for the plans that the phone can come with? Scared about the "shortage" will have to wait and see if I'm either one of the lucky ones to get it just after launch day or not.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

For me it's better for business cashflow to pay off the phone monthly (interest free), which is something that can only be done through the telcos or by using a Gem Visa (but using a Gem means phoning the order in manually, which means you're likely to miss out on the first wave of deliveries).

Much easier to just have the one 2degrees/Spark/Vodafone bill come through each month and reconciled in Xero.

I might consider the 2nd or 3rd gen. I never go for the 1st gen on these new gen products, as they are often not supported all the well for very long, eg the ipad 1, the ipod touch 1 etc. There are many things on it that can be improved, and I think they did rush it a bit to get it out in time. I can see them working out how to remove the notch in the future, by putting things under the screen, supposedly the technology exists for that. Face ID is also a bit of an unknown. If it was cheaper then maybe I would consider it, but for that sort of money, you can buy so much.

I wont be. I have decided my current iPhone 7+ will be my last iPhone.

any reason as to why?

I have an 7+ also but I can't fault it. I started out on Android, but can't find a good enough reason to go back. But in saying that I have about a 30% interest in getting the X now anyway

The are still quite a lot of positive youtube reviews on it though. I wonder if newer versions of it will fix some of the display hardware issues people are having, such as the colour shift. It is also weird that some apps like firefox, can force the display to display a wider gamut for more vivid colours, but there is no actual setting in the phone to do this.
