I am not a big apple person but hey, work gave me a iPhone 8.  To install even free apps you need to set up a payment method because apple wants me to get used to paying for things.  Being the smart person I am I used a Visa Pressie card with a zero balance.  Being the company they are that no longer works because when I try and update a free app it asks for a payment method and, it does something to validate it and that validation fails because it has a zero balance.

I refuse to give them my real CC number (even though the rest of the internet already has it) so the obvious solution is to buy a iTunes voucher and credit it to my account so that I have a valid payment method a.

The 20% off iTunes vouchers used to be a common promotion but I haven't seen it for a while (not that I have been looking).  Does anyone know of a retailer who is running this promotion or does anyone have a unused voucher that they want to unload?

From what I understand if you go to set up an account just via the iTunes store, it will ask you to add a payment method.

However, if you go to the app store and just try downloading a free app and click to create a new one from there, it will allow you to select NONE as the payment method.

More info how to do it via a PC or Device here - https://appletoolbox.com/2016/01/how-to-create-an-apple-id-without-credit-card/
