Sorry, couldn't think of better way to put the subject.

I am currently using a GeniusLite modem on the ADSL (LLU) service with phone plugged into wall jack.  I am due to switch to fibre in about 3 weeks.  My question is, will they have to send me a new modem or can my current one be remotely firmware upgraded for fibre.  I am not wanting the handset model as I will plug my current phone into the side.

Cheers.

Login to the Genius, if on the first page after login you have an item at the bottom:

"Modem is currently configured for:"

Then you can switch your modem to UFB after switching the cables around so that the UFB ONT is connected to LAN port 4, reboot and you should be good.

Regards FireEngine

Thanks for the quick reply.  Logged into modem and don't have that line.  Is it likely to appear closer to change over date (Feb 12) or will it require a new modem?

Main reason for asking is that I have a heap of entries in modem (ports, rules & filters) and am really lazy and don't want to have to redo them.  Not end of world if I have to however.

Hey There,

Can you PM me with your username? I'll confirm that it's got the right firmware version and upgrade it if not.

Thanks and Regards

Dan

Ya, thank you ubergeeknz & firenengine.  Modem just rebooted (made me look as net stopped) and once back logged in and the screen now has the options required.  Thank you for the fast reply.  Now roll on the 12th, I'm ready.
