Hi

Curious question... I've just had fibre installed at 100/20 and could really do with the higher upload capacity but I do not need the 900/400 package as my router. the USG, will not reach above 85mbps download with the protection settings turned on and so the higher download speed would be wasted.  I noted that they offer 100/100 on business connections and wondered if this was available on residential connections... Anyone know?

Cheers

Chris

there is a 100/100 resi offer with chorus too.

Ideally any provider can offer this, but it gets far more complicated than that.... System support, Complexity for sales, support, networks etc.

Bigpipe offer it :)

Nothing against a residential customer being on a business plan that I know of. I certainly did this with Telecom in the past - dsl only though.

200/100 would be perfect but 100/100 would be good as well

@spyware nope I know that but the 2degrees unlimited fibre for business at 100/100 is 110 per month where as the unlimted resi 900/400 is $100 per month.

edited with name as I was too slow and didn't quote.

I have 100/100 business fibre at my house with 2degrees. Probably not the best price I suppose.

Yeah this is the issue I had recently, trying to get 100/100 at home from Voyager - only BigPipe seemed to be willing to offer it so to BP I went.

To get it from another provider meant a business plan, with a business price to match.

BigPipe was the only ISP offering when I was looking, so I switched from Spark to BigPipe.

Never looked back - having a fast upload pipe is fantastic!

I would pay a few more $$ for 100/100 over 100/20

200/100 would be perfect. I'm on fibre max as it's the only decent upload they offer. Still, can't complain for $90/month (plus $10 static IP)!!

The problem at the wholesale level is the LFCs - 100/100 is priced exactly the same as 1000/500, so if a RSP offers you 100/100 cheaper than their 1000/500 plan, they're just cutting into their margins for no reason.

So the RSP could order 1000/500 and sell it at different speeds, throttled at the ISP end.

They could but there is no point, might as well give the punters full speed.

That's a shame, I could clearly order 900/400 with 2 degrees and pay the difference for the improved upload and not worry about the download restriction (waiting for the UDM pro to be released as that will get near 900 for normal usage) in the meantime... I would only go 100/100 if the price was a teeny bit more than I currently have got otherwise its not worth it.
