This started today, My ping in-game is low, but I get large packet loss problems.

In-game I'm pinging 20-45ms as normal, but my lag-o-meter is showing lots of red bars and I'm getting considerable lag.

When I join TeamSpeak, my ping is 30ms, but TS reports 20% packet loss.

I tried playing an MMO today which normal gives no problems, my ping stays normal 200ms, but I'm getting large amount of lag, where by the game seems to "freeze" almost and then everything starts moving again, makes it hard to play..

Sometimes I have to refresh a webpage 2-3 times because the page stops loading half way through

Anyone else having these problems ?

YES ! YES ! & YES ! Gaming with Orcon can really suck! It's terrible at the moment...it's like being in the Matrix! When Orcon gets it together it can be great but it hasn't been like that for months. More than likely I am moving as soon as the new cabinet becomes operational next month. Orcon can keep their LAG, LATENCY, PACKET LOSS and all the other crap that comes with their service. I'm sending their HOME HUB router back today too...it caused more problems than their service. The money I pay for MAX/MAX Broadband, Phone Line, Tolls and other services from Orcon will be better spent elsewhere at half the price. I'm looking forward to it.

Here is another thread on Orcon's Speed issues coupling with packet loss latency etc... Generally my speeds are fine with Orcon... its the bloody packet loss & latency gaming that is frustrating me. Notice doing a speed test the connection does not flow its stops and starts with short bandwidth bursts. This is the problem for gamers! We cannot have this type of connection service when gaming. Constant pauses then bandwidth bursting is really frustrating and makes it impossible to play! I will soon find out if it is an isolated Orcon problem or nationwide. I'm going to be changing to multiple ISP's over the next few months to do some testing and compare's I'll then be able to report who gives the best gaming Service. I'll be starting with ISP's with no fixed term contract. It seems ISP these days cater for Torrent users, Pirates, P2P, Big Downloaders and then forget about the gaming community who want some bandwidth saved for them to play.
