hmmm it would seem that the optus server that speedtest.net uses is slower than the server used by pingtest.net ausfi.com.au

to ausfi I'm getting a ping of 64ms and to optus i get 355ms and to Tugerah I get 102ms so who's right

Likewise, after moving back to Telecom my performance has been faultless. Reading all these comments about Orcon and the continuing problems makes me very pleased I made the move to Telecom.

Slower than dial-up tonight ..

When is the reported network status going to be updated?
Heading for two months: 28/05/10 9:04 pm Degraded broadband performance during peak hours on standard Orcon broadband plans

Interesting. Having no problems here in Auckland. It was really bad at night for a couple of days about a week or so ago, but has been fine here ever since.

Yeah.....seems quite variable for me tonight. One minute fast then the next crawling.

I've tried "Speedtest.Net" many times and I suspect ISPs prioritise such tests. I test to OZ, the US and the EU.....and if I was getting even 20% of the speeds claimed in the speedtests, my network performance would be *awesome*.

But it isn't.

International is working for me, but it's really slow during peak, as in, way slower then normal. Pretty much only been like this since international went down last week.

Quite a ot of packet loss occurring for the last 5mins at the router just out of Orcon's network at then moment. Seems to solve itself then stuffs up again. Very frustrating. :(
