chevrolux: I am interested to see what will happen when a someone picks the 100/50 UFB plan and gets given the 'triple play' router.
Fairly certain the WAN port is only 10/100...

im no expert on Ethernet, but i always assumed fast Ethernet was 100/100 symmetrical

As in the WAN port is a combo 10Mbps or 100Mbps port. Generally written as 10/100. The issue I am saying is that for a 100Mbps UFB connection you really need Gigabit interfaces on the router to be able to reach the 100Mbps.

You can get damn close with a 100Mbps port, provided the router's up to snuff. We have seen speeds over 90Mbps with a 100Mbps router WAN port. Truth is that some of the agreed CFH requirements (eg. very low upper bounds on jitter and latency) mean that 100/50 does not perform as well as it should in the real world because to achieve these buffers have to be kept very small. Some LFCs are exploring "right performing" profiles to address these shortcomings but they'll be a while off I should imagine. At that point a Gigabit WAN port on your router may well make an impact.

I'm living in a rental property and I'm aware i'll need consent from the owners before I can get Fibre installed. Is there some form to fill out (be it online or printable) that I can send to the landlords now?

Not that I'm aware of. From my understanding the Chorus chap that goes out to do the site visit helps arrange that.

Hi

Awesome that there is VDSL now, I was literally one foot of the boat.

Just a few early whines from me - the address locator is generating errors and there is no plan detail.

I imagine that both of these points will be generating unecessary helpdesk calls. The first says "there was a problem searching, please contact SS" even though it found my address and I clicked on it to receive this message.

The second - well, I realise you want to be sure people have VDSL access before you sell them a plan, but why can't we see what each plan's difference is? Surely eveybody who is interested will either browse away or waste some callcentre time finding out?

This is comical, after such a long long wait, the address checker doesn't work.

Gundar, same as you, finds my address but then the error.

Address checker is working now. All the plans and pricing are there before you pop your address in otherwise you can click the appropriate tab on the right to check Fibre/VDSL

Have had VDSL confirmed by Chorus when I applied through Snap, but your address checker says there is no VDSL at my place?

Have opened a call to your helpdesk....

Ye, the address checker works now, unfortunately if you go upgrade existing account and then login it gives an error. Says, "There is a problem accessing this account".

My enthusiasm for Slingshot VDSL is at an all time low!!

At the moment there's no customer facing upgrade option on the website, only new sign ups. If you've got an existing account and want to upgrade our guys can do it over the phone.

If upgrading as an existing ADSL customer, will the ADSL connection be active till the install date?
