Once again it appears Orcon has Intl traffic issues.
Orcon LLU in Auckland CBD.

Local speeds are fine, in fact they are marvellous

but intl to LA ranges from

I'd hoped it was just me but as other have posted here with speed issues I'm guessing its not.
Time to log fault call with Orcon.

I'm inclined to agree but I'll make the effort. I'm guessing that they have just enough bandwidth to handle "normal" conditions and when the weather is bad and everyone stays home on the internet it goes back to how it was in May.

I've had this problem from when it first started - it's never ever been truly fixed for me. I wonder if it's because (and I'm guessing here) I'm on the ZeroShock plan and Orcon has no real control over it (or maybe they do)?
Anyone in the know care to comment?

I finally had enough in the weekend and emailed Scott Bartlett, Thomas Salmen, Duncan Blair and the helpdesk. Hopefully with the increased visibility they will all finally get together and start to work on getting the issue resolved. Fingers crossed.

Just My 2c here

Since the international bandwith upgrade, everything has been fine except gaming.

I game in a private warcraft3 pvpgn server called "Bored Aussie" in australia. most ppl play there are aussie ppl
I enjoyed hosting and gaming there because of low pings. Hosting is also the reason i got max down/up

So after the international bandwith thingy, Whenever i host, i mass drop other peoples connections. Whenever i join other people's games, I will lag out almost instantly.
I have no idea why it happens. But everything that i have tested points towards orcon's fault.

I have reformatted Windows XP, bought a new modem, changed a new filter. Problem still remains.
The problem also comes during peak times. Again more evidence its not the fault of my end.

Strangely enough, Now my modem says I have ADSL2+ connection with like 15mb down. (with amazing speed test I have never had before, 13mb down during non-peak times)
I live in Dunedin and as far as i know, dunedin is no where close to LLU.
I have also forced my modem to adsl1, problem still the same.

Strangely enough, www.speedtest.net does not reflect the problem I have. I get nice speeds and acceptable speeds during peak times. Only occasionally during peak times, it would give me a 1mb down from aussie. When that happens, I get like more speed with my upload, than download from US test servers.

I have called up and submitted a ticket and hope they can find this fault.

Mine are crossed.

I put in a support ticket on Friday - as all last weekday evenings hubby and I have had really bad latecny issues when playing WoW on private servers - avg 10000ms

- have not heard a thing - apart from the automated ticket response email.

I feel stupid for switching to Orcon from Xtra - we had no latecny problems with Xtra whatso-ever - and now with Orcon we do. (But I switched from Telecom as we get more traffic for less than what we paid there - plus the whole Orcon LLu thingy (which should be in our area soon - so they said)

We could not play WOW at all this weekend. Couldn't even connect to Yahoo Games - that's how bad it is.

We pay good money - a lot of money - for our broadband to use for gaming - and we can't even game - our speeds are worse than dial up!

Now what choices do I have - Vodafone (which I've heard they have issues too) or TelstraClear? Too much hassle.

Yeah Vodafone are having serious issues atm, steer clear. Most people agree that, North Island, go Xnet, South Island, go Snap.

Yeah Vodafone are having serious issues atm, steer clear. Most people agree that, North Island, go Xnet, South Island, go Snap.

LOL I've heard Xnet has issues too..lol This is completely doing my head in.

That is good to know. Another computer savvy computer tech friend of ours did recommend them for gaming. But I thought Orcon would be better. Bad mistake.

So I take it, even people on the Orcon LLU (which I'm not on yet) still get really bad Latency (international ie WOW) as if they were on ADSL1 and not Orcon's LLU - does that make sense.

I am on LLU/ADSL2+ with Orcon. During non-peak times, my connection is very fast. But as soon as peak comes around, I get the same problem as you, 10,000ms with AoC (or WoW for that matter).

Comeon guys - stop it with the I hate Orcon thing.

While I said I finally had enough in the weekend, I certainly don't hate them. I'm not even considering moving ISP (for now).
I think they just need a little help from us to get more attentive to problem.

Negativity wont help IMHO.

I've never said I hated them and I've stuck with them even during the debacle in May, even going so far as to sign up for their LLU service but I wish they had a more stable service. The variability of their intl connectivity is extremely frustrating. I'm not a gamer or a heavy p2p user but I do use streaming media services a lot and when I can't even reliably stream a 64kbit service from the UK (BBC listen again service) it makes me question why I've stuck with them.

We've given them all the help we can... nearly two months worth of calls logged and information on this forum.
I agree negativity doesn't help, but that's because NOTHING helps.

Same for me I stuck firm and stayed with them through the whole international failure in may and also signed up to LLU which I now regret and I am without a doubt changing to xnet next week if this is not sorted in the next few days.
