I m downloading files from mediafire. The speed was 300kB/s yesterday but now is around 20kB/s.

All I can say at the moment is that Youtube is unwatchable.

Slingshot speed test at 1.2MB/s, Youtube buffering from 119.224.142.19... under 30kB/s. If the connection to the server doesn't just die.

that seems to be a google cache for slingshot, strange how its buffering

Yeah, it's a Callplus IP addresses. If it wasn't for the speed test results, I'd have assumed my line had turned to mush again.

I've now gone through most of the videos on my homepage and most of them are fine at 480p or below, and around half seem to be fine at 720p. The remaining few are (as above) unwatchable since they'll buffer far too slowly, or the buffering will just stop.

Upon closer inspection, I noticed that: (I didn't watch them, just opened the page and waited for a minute and monitored.)
- The videos that seem to work fine at 720p are mostly from larger channels.
- The videos that seem to work at 480p but not 720p are the less popular videos from larger channels.
- The videos that don't seem to work at all are from a couple of smaller/tiny channels.

It looks to me like the cache servers are fine at serving cached content, but they aren't getting fresh content quickly enough.

ARGH! I cant even get 200KB/s download from my FTP at ANY hour now for the past week now. It used to run and full 2.2MB/s download but now its practically worthless

They're throttling the sh*t out of my FTP(seedbox)?
they told me its beyond their control and there's nothing they can do about it.

For a demo i tried suing the same torrent as my friend up the road (who is also on unlimited) and he was getting 1.5MB/s while i couldn't even get past 100KB/s

Ive tried other modems but still no go.

All other downloading runs fine, streaming etc. good line speed 20mbit.

I'm having the exact same thing. Speeds have dropped from about 1mb/s to 100-200kb/s. Like you I'm comparing speeds from the exact same server, using the same protocol, and got other friends IRL to test their speeds also.

When I phoned them they just gave me some standard response about no speed guarantees and to expect random fluctuations. They also said my speeds are well within acceptable levels and to only ring back if I was getting <10kb/s.

I don't accept an 80-90% speed reduction over a week long period is part of any normal fluctuation.

While on the phone I thought I'd also report what I believe is a bug in the visibill's traffic counter. Admittedly I'm on unlimited so it's not as issue to me, but I thought it may be important to other customers. I've seen the counter go backwards, and its total figure is off by a few hundred gb compared to the router's total. My "downloads" folder on my PC has more in it in then the visibill meter shows. When you include al the rest of my traffic it puts the meter way off.

They told me that my router's data metres are wrong, and that those few hundred gb difference could be accounted for by normal packet loss. I find that hard to believe.

All in all I'd say the response to my speeds was inadequate, and the apparent lack of care about the visibill meter shocking.

I'm not sure what you guys expected, these things happened with the last wave of sign ups.

They have a set pool of bandwidth and the more subscribers the slower the speed for everyone.

To be honest pulling down 100- 200 kb/s on an unlimited plan is still very good value for money.
You either need to accept the speeds or move on and try one of the other unlimited plans.

We are continuing to add International Bandwidth as we scale up, so there should be no change in service quality as we grow.

It is concerning that a couple of you are posting about speed issues.

Broadband speed in NZ can be impacted by a multitude of variables (BUBA/EUBA, distance from the Exchange, cabinetisation, dimensioning, etc). Please PM me your account code or username, and I will look into any speed issues on this plan, and either assist you in resolving, or explain why you are recieving the speed that you are recieving.
