Hopefully the upgrades SaltyNZ mentioned earlier on get implemented this year. I'm looking forward to VoLTE becoming available to see what difference that makes
Linux:@jjnz1 2degrees on net calls sound fine WB-AMR no issue but off-net calling is not up to par
I have been on 2degrees for just over two months. Came from VF.
Switched because of the pool data plan that allows you to throw data at any 2d sim - thought that functionality would be useful. Didn't realise there was a catch (virtually unusable calling). It's bad enough when I'm speaking to someone using the handset - but try answering a call at motorway speeds using my car's builtin hands-free and the remote end is unintelligible. I have to hang up and call back over SIP.
I'll give it another month, then I'm going back to VF for $10/mth more but with less data and no pool sharing option. Being able to actually use my phone for calling is important to me. Or maybe I'll give Spark a go since they support ESIMs.
Hopefully 2d staff that browse this forum can run this up the chain because I'm unwilling to call support and get stuck on hold for multiple tens of minutes only to be told to restart my handset.

Thats ok, when you say you have done that they will tell you to go and get a new sim instead. I seldom use telco voice, I hate it, but I have dual sim in my phone and I can tell which sim a call is on based on if I can tell what people are saying rather than looking at the phone display. Charlie brown teacher calling and its 2degrees.
I haven't noticed the call quality issues too much as I've been calling primarily Mobile to fixed.
However that changed today when I called from my recently minted VFNZ connection to my wifes 2D connection, the quality was extremely poor. Never had the same issues when it was 2D to 2D.
I hope a resolution is forthcoming, a number of my wifes workmates have complained of poor audio quality when calling her. Its less of an issue now with the lockdowns hopefully behind us, but still a concern.
One interesting note is that offnet calling eg. VFNZ to Spark doesn't seem to have the same quality degradation. In fact in some cases, it sounds like the 'HD' calling codecs were in play.

liquidcore: I just ported away this morning after spending 3 weeks on 2D - the call quality is just too hit and miss (mostly miss) and it's too embarrassing only being able to hear every second word clearly. Unfortunate as I really like the plans that 2D offers. Perhaps I'll give them another try once VoLTE and WB-AMR are deployed
Same experience here, switched to 2degrees and have just ported back to Spark 3 weeks later due to poor call quality.
Just called a friend on his vodafone mobile from my mobile using 2 degrees and the voice audio is crystal clear. I also call a friend my my 2 degrees mobile to fixed line connection and the audio is crystal clear.

Are you in an area where 2Degrees has VoLTE active? I believe areas where it is will give great call quality, but little old Auckland where I live doesn't have it yet :-(
