Hi guys,

This thread has become a catch all for any and all problems that people are having with us.

I would respectfully request that if you are having an issue that is not related specifically to international speeds that you find a more appropriate thread, or if there isn't one that you start a new one. It will make it easier for people to find answers to questions that they have, and save me answering the same questions several times.

Thanks.

Hi Duncan,

Attached my speedtest stats from 5 minutes ago. Does this look like it's the same problem or something else. My primary use for broadband is to get live streaming video from MotoGP but over the last couple of months I have had trouble getting anything better than their 300k stream reliably. (They also have 650k and 1200k streams which I had no trouble with until around May.) I believe their server is located in Barcelona, and have included Sydney and L.A. for comparison with other posters.

Hi,

Have you logged a fault with our support team? They will be best able to help you. In general international performance across the network is currently excellent, so if you are having specific issues I would suggest that you contact our support desk. It is possible that this is exchange congestion (that there has been an influx of subscribers on your exchange that has degraded the performance over time).

There are many possible causes of speed issues, only one of which is the amount of bandwidth we provision.

I hope that this helps.

Thanks for that. I have logged a ticket with support. I doubt it is an exchange issue because performance seems OK for local traffic but deteriorates the further away the distant server is. Also we live in a semi-rural area with fewer than 500 lines on the exchange but excellent ADSL (normally) Smile

Pretty lucky.

I put in my ticket RE: INTERNATIONAL BANDWIDTH SPEED ISSES (which is relevant to this thread and the evolution of the topic), Last thursday and have got no reply whatso-ever from Orcon.

I also have yet to have a reply from Orcon, RE: MY INTERNATIONAL BANDWIDTH SPEED ISSUES COMPLAINT

These complaints all started way back in May, the week I changed over from xtra and noticed the difference.

No communication whatsoever.

They certainly know how to make their customers feel stink and in the dark.

Absolutely terrible, my performance is a freaking joke, 8kbps on international traffic on full speed down.

Not seeing a problem here, the router is synced at 1900 exactly and I am getting a down speed of 1301 down and 133 up (sync at 166 up) from New York, if you're down to 8k, ow... LA is a bit quicker, so is Sydney, and this is peak evening usage, just amybe there is a problem elsewhere? Have not has any real issues, except that when it rains, sync speed can drop a bit, usually fixed by rebooting (aged!) USR router...

Duncan, so how about that dedicated engineer to help resolve some of these ongoing issues!?

I know you have a lot on your plate, but there are some seriously poor speeds here!

Well after 2 months of really bad latecny issues 13th May - 4th July and a further month of headaches battling my consumer rights with Orcon.

I have lost complete and utter faith in them.

The letter was a slap in the face.  It appalls me that the Consumer Gurantee Act can be completely ignored.

The TDR are useless.

The only thing left to do is change ISP's.

I am not going to allow Orcon to steal my money anymore.
