This Cybersecurity Awareness Month, I've been hammering home to people the importance of setting a long, strong, and complex administrator password on their home ADSL / wireless routers. I have an Orcon NF4V "White Genius" router at home myself, which I set the admin password for as soon as I got it. However, I haven't had much experience with fibre-optic connections, and I'm wondering if the ONT that was installed as part of my Orcon UFB installation also needs better protection than the installation defaults? Is it possible for the customer to set this up? Is it advisable, being #CyberAware and all?

You don't need to worry about it; it's part of the Chorus (etc) network and just happens to reside in your house. You don't need to administer it any more than you do the equipment in your local cabinet.
