I was wondering if anyone here, or maybe someone from 2D, has managed to set up a subnet supplied by 2D on the 7490.

I'm having issues setting it up correctly and wondered whether my settings in the fritz are correct.

In essence - I have a fibre connection with a static IP in the 203. range with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.255. My network then connects to the fritz on the 192.168.178.2-100 range. Most connections have a fixed IP within that range. DHCP is on.

One computer I have, that is connected via the Fritz!Box to the internet, requires a different public IP from that which I already have. Accordingly I applied for an additional IP and was provided with a subnet by 2d.

This subnet is 202.xxx.xxx.36/30

I am aware that .37 and .38 are the only 2 usable IP addresses.

So...

In the 7490 Fritz - under Home Network / Home Network Overview / Network Settings there are two IPv4 submenus:

IPv4 addresses and IPv4 Routes.

Under the IPv4 addresses it advises you to put your ISP supplied subnet in here, which I did - as below

Public IPv4 Subnet
If your Internet service provider supplies you with a public IPv4 subnet, you can enter it here.

Prefix
202.xxx.xxx.36
Network mask
255.255.255.252

Under the IPv4 Routes I have not added anything - do I need to? I presumed not.

Having said all that, I want to set this one computer up to access the internet and be identifiable by its new IP of 202.xxx.xxx.37. It is still connected to the Fritz.Box.

I do a manual configuration in my network settings on Windows 10 and enter the
IP address as 202.xxx.xxx.37,
subnet mask as 255.255.255.252
the default gateway as 202.xxx.xxx.36 (any other gateway provides a gateway error)
and dns server as 8.8.8.8 (only because I don't know what 2D's dns servers addresses are.
and I have NetBIOS overTCP/IP enabled

Once I do this I get Windows errors, my connection tot he internet dies and I get a Windows dialogue wanting to fix my connection. If I click ok it sets my connectiion to AUTO IP and everything connects again - if I click no it says DHCP is not enabled on this Ethernet connection .

Where am I going wrong?

Any help would be appreciated.

.37 is the gateway. .38 is the address.
