Hi all,

I'm facing this weird speed degradation issue and I hope someone can help me please. Basically, I moved to a new house (more on this later) and I'm not getting the rated speed at the new property. The plan that I'm on is 100/20 and I'm getting around 60~80/20. Upload speed is maxed out so that's fine, but it's the download speed I care about.

At my old property, I was getting around 100~105 Mbps down and 20 up and this is consistent. My old house is pretty big, router was placed at first floor and I would use my internet downstairs. The distance between my endpoint devices and the router is at least 3~4 rooms away. At my new property, I'm getting at most 80 Mbps and this is me standing directly in front of the router.

I've tested both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz and cable connection. Same results. Router hasn't changed, firmware & settings remain the same. My endpoint devices haven't changed or updated either. I'm using Speedtest Android app on my Galaxy S8+ (running Android 8.0), and also running both the new and legacy Speedtest.net in Firefox/Chrome/Edge on my Lenovo T480s laptop on Windows 10 build 1903 (latest). I'm always connected to the same speedtest server, to keep things consistent. All the tests at the new property gave me the same download speed. However, occasionally, I would get around 100 Mbps download. When I'm carrying out the speedtest, I am only running 1x instance at a time. I'm never running multiple speedtests on multiple devices.

My router is the D-link Exo DIR-882 and I've also tested using another router - Huawei HG659b. Both routers worked fine for me at the old property. I've also tried replacing the Cat6 ethernet cable connected from the router to the ONT, as well as replacing the Cat6 ethernet cable I'm using between my laptop and the router.

In addition to the potential line/speed degradation, it would take more than 10+ minutes for my router to pickup an IP address from the ONT, whenever the router gets restarted. The internet status port would blink orange for a long time, until it finally stays green. This behavior is consistent across both routers and was never an issue at the old property. I also have a static IP address with MyRepublic and they didn't carry this over when I moved house, which leads me to believe that they didn't provision properly on their end.

Chorus technician was onsite earlier today and replaced the ONT with a new one. MyRepublic confirmed multiple times that the provisioning on their end is correct and doesn't seem to know what to do or what else to suggest...

Here are some screenshots of the speedtests at my new property. This is the correct, expected result I should be getting (again, I'm only getting the below occasionally):

This is the speed I'm mostly getting:

And here are some other tests:

By the way, I'm not streaming or downloading anything. Nothing in the household is using the internet when I'm running the speedtests.

Regarding moving to my new house, it's actually an old property that I lived at for the past few years. This property was recently renovated and it took a couple of months to complete - hence why I moved out of the property for a while and have now moved back in. The renovation does not and should not affect the ONT or any of the fiber installations. It doesn't touch the cables or anything like that, so I don't imagine this being an issue. Anyway, I was with a different ISP when I was still living at this property and I was on a 200/20 plan. I was consistently getting 200 download. So even though I'm now with a different ISP (MyRepublic), I don't think it would matter and I shouldn't be getting at most 80% of my plan speed...

This looks to be resolved. MyRepublic put me on a new handover and I'm getting consistent speeds throughout the day on the weekends and also after 6:30pm (which is when I get home from work).

Thanks to everyone for their help, appreciate it.
