I was thinking of buying one of these PVRs and apparently you can only watch a channel if it's on the same frequency that the channel you're recording is on. For example, you wouldn't be able to watch Prime if you were recording TV1 being that the PVR is a single tuner. My TV has a built in Freeview tuner, so would it be possible to somehow connect the PVR and the TV so I could record on the PVR and watch whatever channel I like on the tv while the PVR was recording?

Cheers

In short, yes.

You can watch Freeview on whatever channel you want that it can tune to (I'm assuming Freeview|HD, since most TV's don't have a built-in satellite tuner, and the fact you're asking about the DishTV T1020, whish is a UHF receiver).

Your T1020 will be on a different input to the TV (say, HDMI 2), so you can schedule its one tuner to record anything on any multiplex, as you won't be using its tuner to watch the TV.

What you will need is to split your UHF aerial using a splitter into two - one going into the T1020, the other into your TV.

What a stupidly short time to edit/correct one's posts on this forum!

The time limit applies to both EDIT and DELETE. If you were able to edit the post you could just have hit the DELETE button...

Simple: Just run A fly lead from the RF out on the T1020 to the TV

Thanks for clarifying, Mauricio.

It was my first post that I couldn't edit for clarity - or therefore delete. I posted the second time from the 'quick reply' button hoping that it would overwrite my first post, which I had wanted to edit after around 1 hour. When it double posted, I deleted the doubled-up text, but queried (rudely, I'll grant!) why the edit function is so time-limited. Any chance to review this time limit for typo-mokneys like myself? :)

Back on-topic - yes, if the T1020 has an aerial pass-through that'd be easier than a splitter.
