The subject says it all, just about; after we have 'time-skipped' (and I don't mean fast-forwarded, I mean instantaneously
jumped (say) two minutes) there is immediate video, but no sound for several seconds. It's always (for the last three years) been like that, but I just today wondered if anybody else with one had that issue?
Apart from that, I'm very happy with it. Is it worth upgrading the software?

What image are you running? What sort of files are a problem?

This is the original software that it came with. I've not upgraded it.
Enigma Version: OpenPLi 2010-08-02-master
Image Version: openpli-2010-05-21
Frontprozessor Version: VNone
Webinterface Version: 1.6.2

I get the delay when watching recorded TV programs. The files are .ts

I would update OpenPLi from their website http://openpli.org/

You will probably need to update the bootloader as well, as this was updated several years ago - unless this is done first, you won't be able to update the rest. Fairly simple process, using a USB stick.

Make sure you install and manually run the autobackup plugin first - this will preserve all your settings, rather than having to set it up from scratch, which will be a long process if you are unfamiliar with it! This will back up your settings to the internal HDD.

How do you get the sound back, wow after 3 years, i would be pissed.
there is another image called VIX to look at , but you will have to upload the new bootloader to.

Thank you for the pointers!

The sound comes back a few seconds after the video. It's never been more than a small annoyance, and the box has worked so well that I have been loath to mess with it. But I suppose it would be a good idea.

However, in case I get the upgrade wrong, I'm waiting until the current series that someone else wants finishes, so I won't try it for a couple of weeks.

There is an option to have a complete backup of ur current settings,
so if something id go  wrong you can revert back to what you have now.

Done! Upgraded fine, so now we have a shiny new interface. And the sound restarts along with the video after a skip.
Thanks for the help.
Now for the next question...
Given a VuPlus Duo on the (wired) network, an Android tablet, and another TV that is not connected to anything, is there any way I can use a Chromecast to watch movies on the other TV that are stored on the VuPlus?

You will be able to stream from the webif to any computer on the same network.

Grab the android app from VuPlus and see how you go with that.

Can't comment on the Chromecast, the VuPlus should enable an SMB share though if that helps.
