Excuse my ignorance.
Ive used DVB Viewer ( with the ffd codecs was poor and used alot of memory)
With the Cyberlink h264 codecs it was a lot better (AAC is still an issue - but ill figure that out later) Coverage and tuner card dont seem to be the issue. But still not so stable.

But can i just use windows media centre? i scan using the new zealand set up option and get nothing, i dont have the patience for media portal
use France in the setup and i get the two radio stations , national and concert radio.

Is there a region i can choose in set up that will pick up same frequency as freeview hd in NZ? I assume ( ignorantly) that each region only scans a predetermined bandwidth. Ive tried to search and see which nations use similar to NZ freqeuncy wise and no luck. Is there a way to manully tune ? Haha i should rtfm.

Please excuse my ignorance and any help here would be much appreciated.

What version of mediaportal are you using? If prior to 1.0 RC1, then you will have this issue. Latest version is 1.0 RC2.
If you need later version, download it and do one click setup. Choose single seat config and say yes to HDTV.

Once installed, you have to set up TV Server. MS SQL password is MediaPortal when asked.
To scan for channels, expand the TV Servers option untill you see DVB-T..... Click it and select NZ and region from the drop down list then click scan for channels. This should find all channels.
Do any other setup you want there and then run the mediaportal configuration. under Television choose the PDVD as your H.264 codec. Under the TV client sub option type in your computer name (this you will have seen under the TV Servers option in the previous setup). Change any other configs you wish from there. This SHOULD give you working DVB-T.

Note: It is currently impossible to view NZ DVB-T in Windows Media Center unfortunately.
