The TV Pack provides native support for DVB-S ie Freeview Satellite. While VMC does support DVB-T it does not support h.264, so no Freeview Terrestrial. However some people have been able to get h.264 working by using a DLL from the beta, but this is at best buggy and is rumoured to expire after the 31st of August. It can be fun to play with that sort of thing, but would be best to avoid if you value a high WAF.
daskip: Bit of a trick to get shared sky and freeview channels to show up as the one channel and to make sure freeview is the primary, but once I figured that and previously the tuning of D1 out all has been grand.
How'd you do that? Easy enought to figure out?
Yeah pretty easy though not entirely intuative. Basically (sorry don't have it in front of me) edit the channel that you want (ie the sky one) and on the left there is an option to get the listings for it from another channel (ie the DVB-S freeview one). Select the freeview channel from the list. I think you two options at that point, one will merge the channel, go for that. The text on the option makes it sound like it will merge the sky into the freeview channel's position, but it is the other way around.
Next edit the channel again and pick the next option down on the left which allows you to order the channel's available tuners. Move the freeview (DVB-S) one to the top so that it is the first source used when showing/recording the channel (assuming this is your priority). I basically left all the channels in the position they are in sky and gave freeview priority where freeview had the channel, then put the rest of the freeview only channels from channel 100+.
I've never bothered with guide data for other sky channels as I prefer to watch these through sky directly for component out quality are rarely record them, so its quite a nice way to set the primary recording/viewing/guide to freeview for channels it is available on. Not reason would preclude normal guide data loading...
Ive set up my system with the TV Pack 2008 and 2xdvbs Blackgold tuners and everything works find besides some programs are not recording or stopping after a couple of minutes with a schedule conflict error.
There is deffently not a conflict, is anyone else getting this?
I just looked at the guide and a programe that was scheduled to record in a hour and had a red dot on it earlier was not sheduled anymore.....

Yeah just expirienced the same... brothers and sisters finale recorded 30 out of 60 and the red dot had dissapeared prior to resetting it. Did not help the WAF. Hmmmm....
It seems to happen if the recordings are set hours ahead and always one minute past the hour. I set 4 recording over night to test it and they all failed.
Im wondering if the EPG update is changing the listings and VMC is not reconising the recordings?

Recording of The Unit began as scheduled on 11/08/2008 9:30:05 p.m. and stopped early on 11/08/2008 10:01:03 p.m. when a conflicting recording was scheduled.
I'm also having problems with using the Guide to set up recordings. Set it to record 3 News, ended up getting 1 min of tv from 6:17 to 6:18. When I check my scheduled recordings it is random as to whether the ones set via the Guide show up - I think it has something to do with whether I am watching LiveTV or not. Manual recordings seem to work fine - leaving nothing to chance though for Outrageous Fortune so have set up the Panasonic DVR as a backup - Wife will kill me if we miss that one!
Watching tv and movies are fine, the only issue is scheduling, I posted the same issue on the green button and noone seems to be having this problem. Im wondering if its something to do with our freeview EPG
My old DIVX versions of Lost, etc play fine - I did install my codec pack though. Originally tried to install Fiji over my old setup but had issues which I think were related to all the registry changes I had to do to get DVB-S and Bladerunner/Reven working they way I wanted. Ended up doing a new install of Ultimate SP1 to make sure I didn't have the tuner restriction in the future - 8 tuners, cool!
The recording via the Guide issues are a pain - wife thought that feature was pretty cool, then to say it doesn't work reliably! Bet it has something to do with the way the NZ version does it compared to every other country!!!
BTW - I am using dual HVR-4000's, just in case that's the issue.
Just out of interest, has anyone checked what their Recordings.xml file looks like (not sure if thats the exact name of the file) but the one that stores the info about what you have set to record? Does the information look correct in there for your recordings?
