So let me get this straight, I'm the only one with a 500GB drive enjoying PlayTV without problems?

Maybe. I am not using it at the moment since I only have a 60G drive in the machine. And not having an extended epg makes it inconvenient. But when it worked it worked just fine.

But now I have just purchased a Popcorn Hour A200 which can play TVNZ Freeview content, it's much easier to continue using gbpvr, a DVB-T card and have full epg information. But granted the interface isn't quite as nice but I can schedule recordings from a web browser from anywhere.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

Yep it looks like things are finally moving for NZ. There's a media briefing booked for this coming Tuesday: http://www.ben.geek.nz/2010/04/sony-playtv-finally-coming-to-new-zealand/

Look a bit closer though and you'll find that's likely not to relate to PlayTV at all.  Hope I'm wrong, but I think that will relate to the integration of TVNZ's on demand service into the PS3 XMB.

FYI, since the time I delivered my PS3 for repair (1 week ago) I have been checking the status of it on the 'track and trace' part of Sony NZ's website and I am seeing the Sony banner that says something like 'PlayTV is now available at retailers'. I don't know if that's because they think NZ is part of Oz, but I can't recall seeing it before.
(I know it's not for sale in NZ)
I think the announcement later this week is to announce the 'integration' of TVNZ On Demand into the XMB (see posts in HTPC forums).

What about some "local" info? Nate was at the even and posted here. I posted the press release here. And there is a discussion going on here.

Russell Brown asked the question re PlayTV, and the response was "no news, we're working on it".

Sounds to me like Sony NZ has no power to prioritise PlayTV for NZ.

It isn't removed working 100% here in Christchurch, just remember guys TVNZ on demand has nothing ti do with PlayTV, PlayTV is a HD PVR that works off Freeview
