IMHO you are going about this the wrong way. A properly set up system should do what you want comfortably without the need for an amplifier. If you cant get a signal through a 2+4 Way split you should be looking at your dish setup.
Will need an amp for the rf out of the sky box since those modulators are made for a short cable to a single tv levels are low so they comply with the emissions requirements.
Modulators around 70dBuV , more that enough for what he wants. Should have at least 60dB at Tv, an amp wont improve his pic quality, it'll still be ????
IME the inbuilt sky box mods are weak as. Esp at the upper end of the uhf band. Had to amplify one just to get noise free at the end of about 20m of cable.

I agree. Especially as the sky decoder is working fine. first thing I would try is to remove the combined UHF signal from the system and see what that does to the other sat boxes.

Cant say I have come across that , they are normally 65dB + There would be more 'degradation' from Sky's compression than any perceived lack of RF
