If it has let water in, it can track down the inside of the cable and ruin it - best to cut a bit off and recrimp.
The typical current practice standard is Sky approved Linear crimp connectors that have integral O rings and if used with flooded dubond RG6 should be sufficient, but if you want to add more water proofing then a suitable applicaiton of PIB tape, ............................. so what did you do?

Thanks. I used a decent linear crimping tool on it some time ago, and wrapped it in self-bonding tape recently. Probably trapped some moisture in there now. It's fine when the weather's good...
Well I replaced the cable with a 10m length with moulded plugs (https://www.mitre10.co.nz/shop/custom-satellite-or-uhf-aerial-extension-kit-blue/p/295481), and all was well...
Today the rain came in and I can't see Mount Campbell. Signal Strengths all 10, Quality 2-4, all channels blocky and pretty much frozen. No audio.
Could it be that water on the antenna improves its performance so that I'm back to too much signal strength ???
