finally did AC reset (power disconnect/reconnect)

S8200 restarted.............detected new software...........downloaded the new software via WiFi (its only connection to the web)

rebooted back to operation...

She now pressed apps again.......no internet !!....network status ....No WiFi dongle error message........

cant even force the unit to scan for wifi availablilty

what is going on Josh?.....isnt about time we had stable software in this unit after all this time?

I posted the following in your other thread on the topic not realising you moved your comment here. It would pay to get a mod to lock or remove your other thread so that the conversation doesn't go on in two places! :)

I get the no WIFI Dongle detected message occasionally and it is a massive PIA when it occurs!!!!!!!

I put unit into Standby, then pull the power on it and then press the power button on the unit to make sure it has drained any power on capacitors.

Then I plug the power back in and turn unit on again.

Sometimes it can be a couple of minutes before WiFi has started and connected again - certainly it is not available instantly (in my experience) so some patience is required.

Not sure if mine is the usual experience with WiFi in these units and it is a bloody pain. The WiFi seems to be more of an add-on to the S820 rather than something actually built into it.

josh i swear i read this whole thread before i bought my satboxs8200 but that was a while ago and i really, really don't want to read it again. it's a very long thread.

so my questions may have been asked and answered, sorry for the repeats. i have looked all through the user manual and guides etc too but can't find what i'm looking for.

1. i somehow managed to lock everything i record. i figured out how to unlock them to delete them but can't figure out how to stop future recordings being locked. how do i undo that?

2. i'm pretty sure it wasn't always like this but now - i have to enter password, 0000, just to look at the remote. ugh! how do i turn that off? i don't want to have to use a password for anything.

Try a factory reset, you will need to rebook any shows though, see if that corrects the locking issue

I've a couple of questions around the s8200 (love it by the way, gave up sky).

- 3now app, always has programs that I can't play. i.e. brotown from any series. the main link last night for 'married at first sight'

- there's a new freeview plus app, that will only ever load and nothing will happen.

You will need to go into your bookings library simply press Schedule on your remote or head to Menu > Media Manager > Schedule and then find your series linked show and delete.

Ah don't worry about that one, you can activate FreeviewPlus by pressing the red button on live tv

Another question query, mine is unbelievably SLOW... like soo slow.... its ridiculous sometimes...

On the front of the unit the orange and green lights are ALWAYS on..... is this normal... i thought the orange light was more a thinking light, but is this why mine is soo slow.... have emailed tech, tehy are SLOW to reply also....
