Hi Everyone, we are getting large volume calls and messages about the new EPG change, The EPG change is due to a Freeview requirement, we have to follow these requirements and we understand this may not suit everyone. You can still access the old EPG under... MENU - EPG - MHEG EPG.

When in the new FreeviewPlus EPG though; select a channel and simply select/highlight a program you wish to record.
Instead of pressing the "RED" button to set a recording like before, press "OK" and it will give you the option to record.

This applies to the Satbox S8200 and any questions about FreeviewPlus can be directed to Freeview NZ. Thanks ^Josh

This pressing ok is not obvious and maybe needs text to this option

Have just edited that section to make more sense.

I meant on screen text option for ok to record

gunit439: I don't think so, the new epg is for Freeview on demand, so all the other Freeview decoders without Internet access would still be using the old epg. Is there anyone here who could clarify this?.

looks like i was right

most things like this will be pushed by freeview and the other companies will have to tow the line

In the apps menu there is a freeview plus app, when i select it loading comes up but nothing else. The s8200 just sits there with "loading"

also I use a harmony one remote, which i can program, is there one command i can programm to directly get to the old epg

thanks

Hi gunit439

Yes correct, the MHEG5 (Old Freeview EPG) Guide will appear on older, or non HBBTV boxes. Satellite also has another EPG data allocated to it which doesn't require Freeview EPG.

Since the software update our S8200 hasn't any subtitles in any programs in the library. Programs recorded before and after the update are affected so no subtitles at all. My husband has hearing problems and uses subtitles all the time. I hope this can be sorted soon.

Tried going back to default but that didn't help.

I have emailed Freeview about this and they say that they don't control how the interface for Freeview devices are designed in any way.  They claim that the interface design is completely up to the device manufacturer.

"Hi Declan,

Thank you for contacting us today with your query.

The layout of the guide is dependant on the device being used and as such, this sounds like a device-specific query and as a free television platform provider we don’t make, sell or install digital television equipment so this isn’t something we can confidently assist you with.

It’s best to get in touch with manufacturer support for technical assistance since they’re the device experts..."

@joshhill96 could you please explain then what you mean by Freeview making this new EPG a requirement?  Because they claim that they place no such requirements on Freeview device manufacturers.  In my email I told them that I know they don't design these devices or their firmware, I specifically asked about the requirements they place on manufacturers.

this device is quite frustrating. I've only owned it for a couple of weeks and getting wary of it. Slow responses are just the start.

It consistently loses it's wifi connection, seemingly with no attempt to re-connect - or it's connected, but indicates no internet available, which all results in only the standard freeview EPG being available, no program reminders, no recording! and the function of various buttons change.

So when I do manually re-connect the wifi (requiring wifi password again each time), and therefore able to set reminders again...... when I set reminder for (eg) for a series on TV2, it not only sets that reminder, but also a reminder for the same series on TV2+1 !!!

Why as well, is series reminder not available for Prime?

If I had a choice, I wouldn't have bought this device, but it seems this is the only device catering for FreeviewPlus on satellite in the market!

A new software update is arriving tomorrow on the OND servers, this corrects a few bugs including the subtitle issue on recorded shows.

Hi S8200 customers, the latest software version has been released which now enables an option in Menu > Admin about your default guide, Install the latest software update then in the Admin Settings choose MHEG for the original Freeview Guide or FreeviewPlus for the new guide.

Thanks Josh. I was one having problems early on, but the last two updates have made this box very stable. In fact, rock solid.

Thanks for the MHEG guide patch.

Is it possible to stream recorded shows to another device or is it just live streams

Thanks again.

Ummm, just wondering whether anyone can provide assistance. Having set up the box today, I only get Bravo +1, Prime and The Edge on my unit.

Signal 66% and quality 98% in Hawkes Bay.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Michael
