I assume that you can only record one DVB-T channel at a time from the HVR-3000/HVR-4000 and two at once from the old NOVA T 500?

For someone buying a new card solely for DVB-T (and for MCE of course), would the HVR2200 make the most sense? I blinked and now there are several models i'm unfamiliar with on the market :)

Yea - you can record one Digital channel off each card (you can also record analog at the same time).

The HVR2200 looks like a nice card. I would have got one instead of the 500 except they're rare as hens teeth at the moment.

The big advantage that the 2200 has is that its PCIe, which means you get to stick something into that otherwise useless slot thats been sittting there :). But seriously many of the passive NVidia cards overlap the first PCI slot, in my experience the PCIe slot is always on the other side, which means you can still add another card if needed.

Other than that the Nova 500 T is still a great card for DVB-T.

To the best of my knowledge no. Thats still a MediaPortal unique feature...

The multi-tuner stuff is changing in the beta, however from what I have seen there's no visable support for it.

It looks like you will be able to record from different sources ie DVB-S/DVB-T on the same card, assuming the tuners are seen as spearate. This is too flakey to verify at the moment.

It looks like it will still limit to 1 recording per source input ie DVB-T and Analog RF have the same RF input, so you can't tune into both at once on the same card, whereas DVB-S and Analog are seen as separate tuning spaces ie you can record both at once. This may change during the process of the beta, but then again it may not.

Question for the MediaPortal gurus.

Does the tvserver component of mediaportal allow recording/streaming of the mux, or of a channel. And if it is at a channel level can you steam multiple channels from the same mux at the time.

Secondary to that, if it is at a channel level what is the format that is delivered in.

I have been thinking serisouly about creating a fake bdtuner for vista, which connects back to say a server, which aggregates all the muxes/channels. If you had a tuner for each mux in you server, you could then effectively have a virtual tuner dedicated to every channel in vista media centre.

If medaiportal supports this, it means that I would only have to create the client interface and not the server core as well

At the moment you can use all off the functions, ie Analog + Digital although the current release will only scan once using the Analog/DVB-T tuning space. That is you can switch between DVB-S & DVB-T on the fly (albiet with a few hicups on the BETA :)), but not currently Analog to DVB-T.

Hallelujah! I think I'll just need the HVR-3000 - if DVB-S2 ever becomes relevant I can always get it then. By the time it becomes an issue I'll almost certainly be on the next PC anyway :-)

BTW, if anyone is in the market for any of the aformentioned cards, Computer Lounge appears to be having a Queens Birthday "sale" - the price is a whole $7.50 cheaper for a HVR3000 then the next on Pricespy...

Disclaimer: I don't have any working relationship with them, just used them to get my new system parts from and they seem to be fine to deal with...

To stop the screen blanking after a few seconds just go to Settings > general > program library options > edit program libary
and uncheck interactive tv and mheg ad-in. Simple :)

Awesome find with the MHEG - works a treat!

The tuning for NZ used to reside in the mcetuningoverides.xml file which is a xml file located in c:\windows\ehome\

You should be able to edit this file to include the appropriate frequencies for NZ DVB-T. At the moment it only scans for the standard UHF freq range. I was going to play around with it but didn't see the point cause the screen always went blank :)

There is a chance that the beta overides this file as it does with the DVB-S info - it downloads a fresh copy of the OPTUS D1 tuning spaces every time you run the setup, but you should know the first time you use the modified file.

Might give it a blast later tonite.

Seems the mcetuningoverrides.xml is not used anymore , Also IIS based EPG programs seem to
know longer supported :(

The weather in Fiji wasn't good for long. Had beautiful dvb-t for a while but now I get a video decoder error. Ohhh well, was nice to visit Fiji for a short time to see what it was like, will definitely be going back later in the year when I can get a free ticket from M$.

PS Just watched the Lost finale, was awesome

Hi,

Just got *Fiji* updated and did a DV-T scan. (Using an HVR-3000). Scanned 97 channels. Had to sort through to find correct freeview channels. EPG works great. My problem is I cant edit the channels to correct numerical order. Ie: TV1 - slot 1, TV2 - slot 2. ETC. Any suggestions on how to do this?

If I want to scan DV-S do you just use satelie as your option? For some reason, it asks for a set top box and im not using one and then i cant scan DV-S

Does anyone know if you will be able to use DV-S to pick up more than 2 satellite signals using a dual LND that has discque switching?
