Hi all,

Got a bit of a weird one, I've got a new Panasonic TH-49ex600z (couple of weeks old) and it's been working fine, then all of a sudden in the space of 1/2 a night it lost prime (No signal),
Then it lost all the Mediaworks channels, then all TVNZ channels.
Doing a manual tune so I can check the channel quality the TV notes the quality on channel 32 for example is zero. Same for all the channels.
I've tried another areial outlet in the same room with the same result.
Move the TV to a different room, and all of a sudden it can pick up Mediaworks channels (Channel 32) with a quality of 2-4 out of 10.

Things I have noted, We have a X-Type Magna Phased array aerial which looks to be in a vertical polarity, but sugarloaf (Christchurch transmitter) broadcasts in a horizontal polarity.
Samsung TV's in the bedrooms have no issues getting all channels.
So it definately seems like the Panasonic is very picky but it has been working fine up until a few days ago.

So dodgy aerial/wrong polarity, possible dodgy splitter coupled with a picky TV are my thoughts.

Any other ideas?

Cheers
Terry

Wrong polarity is more like a 20 dB loss.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

So, with that new house behind you... does this block the line of sight from your aerial to the TV transmitter?  i.e. if your aerial cant see in clear view the mast on the hill (or wherever you are), then its likely this is the problem.   I live near a massive block of new housing and I see some pretty stupid installations of TV aerials... i.e. wrong side of the house and trying to grab a signal it cant see.

Hopefully you can get away with an extension pole, all depending on the height of their roof, how much slack you have in the cable and the weight at the top of the extension. Have a look at the mast extensions and you may need an adjustable stay depending on how much height you need.

Yeh lazy project manager and sparkly.
There would have been a few extra $$ for the job if they thought about it at the start.
