Hi all,

We are currently looking at SFF machines to replace half a dozen outdated ATX boxes in out office. We are specifically looking at the Asus offerings with this unit: http://uk.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=3qRH01yHQFgo84hY

These users are general admin and sales stage that use their workstations almost exclusively for MS Office applications, Email, Internet, and in one case, QuickBooks Accounting.

The first thing that stands out is that these units are only availble in Windows 7 Home Premium, so will need to be upgraded seperately as we are on a domain.

When I ran this past one of our IT contractors, he had this to say:
" As workstations however Atom processors are not very good nor recommended. They are designed to run one thing at a time only. The performance really suffers the moment you start asking them to do more than one thing at a time. "

Just after a second opinion on this if anyone cares to share their experience.

Cheers
Aaron

We have a large number of Atom based eeeBox's in one of our classes for the students and theyve never complained - they run Office 07, MYOB etc.

Also a couple of the admin staff run them and again no issues reported - altho the admin staff do work on a terminal server a bit as well.
