I use Cloudberry Backup with Backblaze storage for backup. For permanent storage, I have an Office 365 Family account (1 TB OneDrive). And also a backup to the local NAS.

I'm still using Backblaze - prices have gone up a little, currently $70 USD a year for unlimited personal backup (one computer). Suits my needs just fine. Maybe not the fastest upload speed if you've got a lot to backup, but is pretty good as a 'set and forget' approach.

I also use my Office subscription for the 1TB OneDrive for documents/files.

so with backblaze, say i create an image file of a different computer, does that image need to stay on the one computer thats included in the personal backup to be kept in the online backup, if its there, and removed will it be removed from the online backup? ie is the online back a mirror of whats on the one computer?

i would like the ability to choose whats backed up, but also to not have to have the files floating around on the computer all the time.

If you use the all in service (like Foo uses above) then yes.

You could also use their B2 storage for the image file. It's super cheap and you don't need to keep things locally. I actually use this for all my backups. I have >200GB and it costs about $1.20/mth NZD.

Nothing to stop you using both services at all.

Backblaze pretty much works on an "opt-out" process, i.e. by default, it backs up your entire machine except for folders (or drives) that you specifically exclude. It also excludes OS-type files, more detail here https://help.backblaze.com/hc/en-us/articles/217666538-Exclusions-Settings-Win-

From memory, the Backblaze backup app needs to "see" the files at least once every 30 days, or it will delete the file from the online backup. So, if you've got an external drive that you use somewhere else, you'd need to plug it into the backup machine once every 30 days to ensure that the online backup is not deleted.

From what you've said, if you were creating an image file of a different computer and putting it on the backup machine, you would need to keep it on the backup machine. Or once it has been backed up, you could delete it as long as you put a more up-to-date version within the next 30-day period (of course it would need to upload the whole file again assuming it has changed).

Edit: Looks like you can sign up for two years subscription for $130 USD (so a little bit of savings over a year subscription).
