Hi, This might be a silly question, but I have seen you can buy wildcard certificates for eg US$50 per year or similar from e.g. http://www.garrisonhost.com/ssl-certificates/alphassl.html and other places. Etc.

But clicking through these appear to be for .com domains. I can't really be sure since most of the time they want you to buy it before you actually seem to specify what the domain is on the web form. I don't want to actually purchase a wildcard cert and then find I can't certify our .co.nz domain... so are there any recommendations on sites in nz or otherwise where I can get a wildcard cert on a .co.nz domain for a similar price?

(Or am I simply mistaken and most of the agencies will certify any domain, e.g. the rapid ssl or the comodo ones work with any domains, etc...)

Thanks in advance...
   Jas

I use RapidSSL for Geekzone and have been using for the last five years. Issuing a certificate for a .com or .co.nz domain is no different - part of the process involves placing an automated phone call to the number in your WHOIS records to authenticate the request as well as sending emails to the domain administrator to confirm it. Perhaps this company doesn't want to do it for domains outside the USA? It would be strange because there's no guarantee a .com is USA-based anyway.

Go with RapidSSL...
