Specs are mostly similar to the original Galaxy S except the following:

1.4Ghz single core Qualcomm MSM8255T CPU

1650mAh battery

Android 2.3 out of the box

Metal back cover

HSPA+ 14.4Mbps

It has replaced the Hummingbird processor with a Qualcomm Snapdragon @ 1.4ghz and Adreno 205 GPU

Sounds more like a reasonable performance upgrade to me over the SGS. Since it's visually identical to the original Int'l SGS i9000, I'd say it's that models replacement. Better battery and more grunt should keep the SGS 1 selling for a while longer and the fact they're going to Gingerbread adds hope for us SGS 1 owners.

Imo the specs might make it better than the SGS II Tegra based at least.

All those news about shortage of Super AMOLED I am surprised this model comes with this type of screen. I wonder once it is available, will there be a Super LCD variant like the i9003....
