I never really got around to trying out/finding the speech recognition stuff on my sgs.

On another thought, how long do you think it will take for the price of the sgs2 to come down in price?  I doubt I will have the money soon enough to place a preorder so wonder if it is worth wating a week or two after release?

Is it really necessary to use a screen protector on the GS or GSII with the Gorilla glass they use on them?

I've seen some pretty horific things done to them in Youtube videos with knives, keys, being dropped etc, and not a scratch was seen afterwards.

The "hands-on" videos I've seen of the pre-release GSII's have shown a hot-swappable standard SIM card and a MicroSD card that appears to need the battery removed before it can be inserted/removed.

Same here, mines been in my pocket with my keys for 10 months, no scratches, just a cover for the back plastic case,  have also ordered a slim cover for the Galaxy S II, just to cover the black plastic

Also, MHL cables at Clove...but release date is mid June :(

I was going to get one of these, as I have the HTC one for my desire.

And one of these when they are available.

Looks good does it add much weight to it?  Would the case work with the extended battery pack?

This is the sort of stuff I want to see :) I had to leave the original Galaxy S thread because after a few months everyone just talked about ROMs and never about hardware :(

Not sure, was wondering the same thing. I've found out since that post that its a bit of a generic pouch , not as "custom-made to the exact specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S II" as it would seem. Look up the other smart phones and the exact same part numbers listed.

The extended battery/case isn't available yet so if the pouch doesn't work out then I can just use that. I couldn't find dimensions of the phone with it on so don't know if it would even fit in the pouch

Interestingly, Clove charged my VISA on the day I pre-ordered my GSII (17/4/11) and it appeared on my VISA statement as processed on 23/4/11.

A friend who ordered one has been charged also.

I was under the impression Clove only charged pre-orders once they had stock to ship? Has anyone else been charged in advance?

I just ordered mine, I will check tomorrow if its online yet. Are you going to hit them up about it? I'll have to check when my card is due, if I get a massive interest charge because of it, I'll be a bit annoyed.

Maybe its because they've changed to a automated system, I'm sure when I brought my desire off them last year it was a manually entered, they need to update their international FAQ if that's true.

I also noticed some of their password fields are displaying the text instead of dots, dunno if thats a browser setting on my end or not.

I don't think I'll cause a fuss with them as I don't want anything to go wrong and slow my delivery.

My VISA was charged at the rate of GBP 0.4811 to NZ$1 and knowing my luck, if it happened close to 1/5/11 it could have been worse.

It's certainly not what's supposed to happen according to their international Pre-order FAQ at:

I read somewhere they were going to charge the credit cards last week so as soon as stock arrives they can start shipping them out.

Basically so they can get the toys out faster.

Waiting for some reviews to come out then i'll be ordering mine :D

Normal SIM of course, I don't think anyone but Apple uses micro SIMs.
