Is anyone here using the stock spark version on vodafone? If so can you confirm if HD voice works or is it disabled?

scottjpalmer: Just updated my unbranded Sony Australia D5833 Z3 Compact to 23.1.A.0.726 which is 5.0.2.

I'm impressed by the initial visual impressions, can't wait for my Z3 Dual D6633 to get the update!

Was that OTA or did you use the flash tool?

Notified OTA but Sony makes you plug in do via USB usually anyway (grrrrr).

I've got a Z3 compact and I'm getting a bit impatient with Sony (they still haven't given a release date for their Lollipop rollout in NZ) so I was wondering about flashing another region's firmware - only thing is, I've never done it before and I'm nervous of breaking my phone. I've found what seems like a good guide to flashing the phone, but I was wondering if anyone here knows if it'll still work on Spark after I've flashed it, or if there's anything else I need to know. Oh, and does anyone know what firmware should I use? There's a bit of a long list.

Was your phone purchased in NZ from spark/jbhifi or sony?  If it is then you have a D5833

I used 23.1.A.0.726 - Unbranded - Australia (1288-4214)

Thanks, that was exactly what I was after! I purchased mine from Spark, checked the device specs and it's a D5833. Looks like we found the same guide to use as well.

Nothing special / different to that guide that I need to know?

Oh, and one more question - when the official Sony NZ lollipop update comes out, will I be able to update to that (if I want to?)

No, just make sure you don't have any of the sony pc stuff running when you do it etc.
First time for me it did not work correctly as I had problems installed the sony USB drivers but got there in the end

No idea when the nz one will be out, but I am keeping with the unbranded AU one as that will get updates before the spark one (spark has to OK the spark firmware which takes time).

You won't be able to upgrade to the official NZ one using an OTA update if you install that firmware as it's Australian and will now have the Australian product code. You would however be able to flash it with the NZ update (when that appears) to return it to a Spark product code.

Try going to settings, hit 'more' under 'wireless and networks', then scroll to the bottom and you should see 'internet settings'. From there you should be able to download the settings to connect.

Ha ha if you'd waited a couple of days

I have z1 compact and got the message a new firmware was available. Hooked up to the PC with PC Companion and am now running 5.0.2. Stuffed up Semble though. Will have to reset on an older software phone

Wonder how long until 5.1 will come through now that we're getting on 5.0.2?
