I've read of people getting the update when rooted, of course, when that happens they lose root.

I got mine in the US.

Thanks, perhaps I will un-root in anticipation of the update. Undecided

I don't think in really matters, but go ahead. If you did un-root and immediately got the update, you could likely infer that it does matter.

Best thing is to be patient (as hard as that can be sometimes!)

Ha, I have the patience of a sniper.  I was more concerned that I wasn't getting the update for some reason when I should have been able to.  Probably not released for the region my tab is from.

I'll keep checking every so often. I don't use it every day as I haven't full weaned myself off the netbook.

Kiwi1971: If your Iconia has updated, can you say where you got yorus from?

Mine was from Mobicity.
Would the fact that it is rooted affect it's ability to update? Should I un-root and try again?

DLS

I got the update via OTA. mine was from  harvey normal. Device was rooted.

i have to reroot my device after the 3.1 update.

What is everyones opinion on their microphone volume? I have only tested it so far with the built-in recorder and the Skype test call and in each instance the volume seems very low.
On the voice recorder app, the needle on the meter barely moves.

According to an ad in the Herald over the Weekend the 16GB/3G is $999, the 32GB/3G is $1149

(Although the website has them all for $0 :)

Ahh, brilliant, that might fix some of the issues that occur since installing 3.1. Off to take a look at XDA to see what the verdict is.

What issues are you getting since 3.1?

Well, the browser seems to force close on me on occasion (but without a 'force close' message), the keyboard is laggy when entering text in the browser and there are slight delays when returning to the home screen.

There is also an issue with holding a wifi signal at 1 or 2 bars, but that was present with 3.0.

Thanks peejayw.

I'm of the feeling that Honeycomb is 'almost there' and perhaps by a further release (3.2 or 3.2) some of the rats and mice will be chased out. I can see why people really dig the iPad, but for me, Android offers so much more.

Yes Apple sure do now how to pakage their products, and the usability of the device I think is better for most people (debateable). Coming from a technical background, I personally prefer the Iconia and android and the USB function is just great!

Just in case anyone was interested, I called up acer about the k/b lag since the 3.1 update and their response was that they didnt know about this issue. A bit disappointed with that response, but hope google/acer dev guys do know about this issue. I initially bought a cheap chinese tab and the laggy keyboard was annoying to say the least. Luckily that died and I got the Iconia.

I just put that response down to the rep not being upto date. Other than the keyboard issue Ive been very happy with the 3.1 update. My stock browser used to just close on its own, this update fixed that

Anyone else contact the acer helpline to report this issue?

Im on 4.010.24 COM GEN1
