freitasm: Calm down everyone... Just go this from the PR company:

"Apologies for the correction - the Galaxy S II launch date for NZ is still TBC, not May as earlier stated."

I can see bodies raining down from high rise buildings :)

I saw on a site that I was looking at today that gave out when various regions are getting this fone. I seem to remember that Europe was first may 2011 and AU was getting it 3rd Q 2011.. Can't find the site again..

It's not just Samsung that don't give a crap about NZ as a market, almost no large companies do, including the ones who operate and sell here :)

It's been tried, but Samsung have patched up the security hole that Gingerbreak needs to work. Unless another hole is found, the only way to root is to flash a new kernel.

When I ordered my Galaxy S from mobicity last year, it cost around $910 nzd after credit card fees, and I didnt get charged any GST or duty. I wonder if I'd get lucky again?

I might give it a month for things to die down. The prices came down by a hundred or two pretty fast last time (with the original Galaxy S).

If you purchase from mobocity.co.nz, the price includes the GST.

According to Mobicity's site, packages to NZ customers come from Sydney warehouse, are sent to either Auckland or Wellington, and then on to customers. You'll never get a separate GST bill because someone else in NZ is being sent it before you get it.

The only time you should get a GST bill is if you're being sent the phone directly from overseas, and the seller hasn't pre-paid the GST. The seller should tell you (or at least have something in their FAQ) if you need to pay GST yourself.

That's right, they use drop shipping.  What did the customs declaration say?  Did it say something like "Galaxy Spica $350NZD" or there abouts?
