Just checked my /system/csc folder and the contents are as follows:

contents.db
customer.xml
feature.xml
isnew_csc.txt
others.xml
sales_code.dat

I've confirmed my CSC via SGS Toolbox as being I9000VNZJP3, so it looks fine. I've browsed the above files, and customer.xml to have the most relevant settings:

Yes, searched for cache.rfs andCSC_I9000------.tar.md5, but I suspect that I'm not seeing everything in Root Explorer due to having lost root access. . . . . which is actually turning out to be a royal PITA, as I'm starting to get some severe lag, and I can't flash unsigned update.zip files. . . . . .Grrrrr etc etc ;-)

Does SGS Toolbox also list you as .nv_data.bk with the correct product code? If you don't have .nv_data.bk in your efs folder then this won't help you, but If so, you can delete nv_data.bin from your efs folder and then reboot the phone. A new nv_data.bin file will be generated from the nv_data.bk file which will then have your correct CSC/imei etc.

I agonised over this for a day after I flashed my first custom rom and found my CSC was KOR.
There are countless different posts on xda forums with methods for CSC restoration and all of them left me with doubts. Deleting nv_data.bin using root explorer was nerve-racking but it simply couldn't have been easier and acheived precisely what I wanted with minimal fuss.

Before doing this, I'd advise you to have a backup of .nv_data.bin aswell as your imei somewhere safe.

I'll check out those options and if I can physically attempt it, I'll have a bash at doing what you suggest.

Sad news I'm afraid. For me anyway.

The results are:
Got root access.
Using workdir:
/sdcard/ProductCodeCheck

Backing up to:
/sdcard/ProductCodeCheck/20101212-1413831

Copied nv_data files...
nv_data.bin could not be read!
No backup .nv_data.bak found!

Those exclamation marks look ominous. My interpretation of the results is that I'll be needing some other method of getting a matching CSC back onto this phone.

I did think about un-archiving an omnibus Rom file, and using Odin to flash the CSC component from that onto my phone. But alarms went off in my head at that moment since anything that sounds that easy is bound to be very dangerous to the booting of the phone immediately thereafter.

So back to googling I think.

Thanks for your input though. Might've been the magic bullet.
