Most likely Exynos. I’m absolutely shocked at the price of the Ultra - $1400USD.

For context, the iPhone 11 Pro Max 512GB model is $1449USD. 

These prices are getting way out of hand O_O

It looks (on the surface) like a good spread, to compete with the best.

Global version is Exynos, I've heard rumors that's what desterened for NZ too.

I'm kinda keen though, looks like it's the first device that will do both NSA and SA (including mmwave) and has a decent range of band support

Note: i Don't have internal spark specs before anyone tries to ask, everything i've looked at is from samsungs site and gsm arena.

I also can't comment on which models spark will stock, I'm not a device person; plus i doubt even they would be allowed. most mobile vendors are pretty Quick with NDA's.

If that pricing is correct for NZ, then I'm out. I have a note, and may not have considered moving to a Galaxy device, but I do fear what this means for the note pricing. It's horrible.

I may switch from annual to 2 year upgrades at this stage :(

It will only get worse unfortunately. The strategy here is to grab the best pre-order bundle, sell the accessories and hopefully score a good trade-in deal. That would make the purchase less 'painful'.

I'm keen to finally upgrade from my Note 3 to a Galaxy S20 of some sort, but the price might drop 1/3 after just a couple of months.

That's based on PriceSpy history of the S10 and two models of the S10 Plus. Or waiting longer and avoiding parallel import stores, at PB's Black Friday sale the S10 Plus 1TB was about half price. Before that there were a few heavily discounted S10 sales, or a free S10E with purchase.

To compare, the PriceSpy history of an iPhone 11 (checked Pro Max and regular 11 models) for example is basically a straight line.

I'm not keen on an iPhone anyway, but the fact a model costs the same today as when it first came out makes it an easier choice to purchase at launch.

Noel Leeming just sent me a pre-order email.

Price for the S20 bundle $1499, so the same as my S10 last year. Only available in Grey, Blue and Pink though (and 4G).

The + bundle is $1899 (5G)

The Ultra bundle is $2199 (5G)

Dont want a phone that is bigger than my S10 so I see no advantage in the S20 in my case.

Looked at the official specs more closely again and surprised to see S20 series don't use UFS 3.1 storage, still keeps the UFS 3.0.

Not sure what the read/write performance difference it'd make but probably to keep the cost down I suppose.

March 10: @networkn preorders Galaxy s20 ultra. The addiction is real 🤣🤣

I have gone from 3-4 Flagships a year down to 1 (Usually the new Note) or maybe 2 if there is a killer feature I can't live without, or something new I want to try. With this series, the screen is about the only killer feature, perhaps the battery, and I can't really justify the $2200 etc for that.

The bundles might be good, but last time, because everyone was selling their bundles to cover the cost, it was near impossible to get reasonable value on resale of them.

Once upon a time, phones weren't enough spec, I wanted faster, more memory, as I use my phone a LOT and I always felt they weren't spec'd high enough. Recently though, the processor, memory and storage are proving to be enough, so it's really down to killer features.

I might look at a foldable at some stage, but probably a generation or two away for me. Lisa from MobileTechReview, who I think does fairly light weight but trust worthy honest reviews, has used a fold for 4 months and really rates it.

Short of a killer bundle, or unless something changes, I probably will skip the S20 and wait for the Note 20, or see who else has a killer device this year.

I'm thinking of getting the s20 but i don't know whether i want the cheaper version or the s20+.
