Neets: While I'm showing my lack of Geekiness, I've got question that will probably make you all roll your eyes and wonder how I could be so daft - either for not knowing, or for being so lazy and not researching it [you call yourself the self-appointed librarian :tsk:]

Anyway, when I flash a new ROM, and I tend to go back to JM9 or I guess I could now go JPU (stock ROMS) you end up with a phone that looks like it's out of the box.

I usually take the zip with all the add-ons and then delete those that I'm not interested in.

However, in the past I've taken a Titanium Backup with some of those same apps I really don't want.

When I go to do a restore apps & data the list shows a bunch of apps that are crossed out.  Clearly ones I've had in the past and have decided not to re-install.

What I really want is for my Titanium Backup not to list those apps at all.  I don't want them, I don't want to know I ever had them installed.

Is there something I'm overlooking?  Today I've deleted all the backups of those apps I don't want, and then deleted the app itself.  But the app still shows in the list struck out.

Does anyone have the answer, am I showing how dense I am?  Yeah.  Sorry about that ;-)

I found that annoying also Neets. I get confused as to which of the recent apps I want to restore as the ones long deleted still show up, as you said in the crossed out list. I'm guessing you would have deleted all the files in the TiBu folder on the internal sd card? By the looks of it, there's 3 files associated with each app. Some are singular but most seem to be in 3s. I deleted all instances of the apps i dont want to restore and they no longer show in the crossed out list.

I still  have the folder.  I did as you suggested (for a dozen or so) and they're still showing struck out in Titanium Backup.  I've done a search in Root Explorer in the Titanium Backup folder and the files are definitely gone.  What did I miss?

Hmm sounds like you've done everything you need to do so I'm stumped!

Did you also run the "Delete backups for uninstalled apps"? Theoretically this should now show 0 if you deleted the unwanted apps in system/app and also the Titanium folders.

Someone else might have an idea as to what's missing. Perhaps Titanium is referencing another file somwhere?

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steve. I rebooted the phone and that seems to have made the difference. I hadn't run that action in TB and have done that now. Just another 8 our so to go now. Cheers

They are all gone :-)  But again I had to reboot the phone before the other 9 disappeared from the list.  Thanks for that tip.  Nice one!

Crikey everyone's flashing.. again :D

To the huge number of Captivate users out there.. <hears voice echoing in the chasm> *cough* *ahem* :P

I've flashed to Assonance 5.0 featuring SetiRon's kernel 1.4.6 OC'd to 1200 mhz, JK3 Modem with the ULF (all ext 4).

Some users have reported better performance on xCalibur's 2.2.1 no OC/UV/Voodoo kernel so time permitting, may give this kernel a go tonight. JL3 modem is widely reported to be much better than JK3 also so may try this as well..

I've been asked whether us Captivate users should have our own thread.. that would be okay, however replying to one's own posts wouldn't be a good look. I have only been messaged by one other Captivate user so not really worth having our own thread. Though as always, there are always readers who don't/won't post, however I am sure they still find the information invaluable.

So we will stay in this comfy realm of this thread. My boot screen now says I9000 so I now feel "closer" to you guys haha!

Thanks to the devs for getting the I9000 kernel to work on the Captivate. The I9000 scene is where all the action is!

Glad you now feel legitimate :)

Earlier today I was thinking about all those that lurk.  Hi [waves].  Don't be shy.  Sometimes we (ok, me!) don't always stay on topic (as you've seen).  Feel free to join in.  We don't bite.  Maybe I shouldn't speak on behalf of everyone.  *I* don't bite.  Please.  I hope you don't feel intimidated.  Really it's fine to add your 2 cents worth.

And for my latest flash ..... Darky's Rom v5.6 Gingerbread edition.
Despite the 5.6 stating it doesn't apply the Voodoo fix, it's only there as the kernel, it did in fact install Voodoo on my phone.  I don't mind, but it's not giving the true impression of what the ROM performance is like.  Yes, yes.  I can disable it.

There's some nice things in there.  Some Gingerbread themed apps. And I really like the extended Power options.  The Recovery option works properly i.e. you get the little vibration to indicate the phone has really powered off, before going into CWM.

Lord knows why he's decided to change the font colour of CWM from Green to some sort of tomato red colour.

The other thing I thought was really helpful about his ROM thread on XDA is one of his peeps has created a YouTube video of the whole start to finish flash including using Odin to go to JM8.  Great for anyone out there that's not flashed in Odin before, or flashed another ROM.

I don't like all the heavy Green for the Wifi and Signal indicators on the status bar.  And the font of the battery indicator is really tiny.  I'll have to find a magnifying glass.

Now to see how it behaves overnight with Wifi turned on.  Let's hope the battery life is better than what I've experienced with Doc's V4 JPU rom.  That's really what I'm hoping for :-)

Tell me about it. v5.2 was green as usual, but when I upgraded to v5.5 I was a little alarmed. My simple monkey brain is pretty much trained to know that red = danger, so I was nervously thinking I was about to brick the phone if I continued.

Upgrading, once you've installed one of his roms is also stupidly simple.

Yeah that counter on the battery is new as of v5.5. It definitely needs some attention. Even just rotating it 90 degrees would make it larger and easier to read.

Official 2.2.1 (JPX) firmware is being rolled out across europe right now.

Yes, thats right VF and XT fans, while you wait for your favourite telecomunications company to pull their finger out and give you 2.2, across the other side of the world, Santa is giving all the presents to the other kids.

Doc seems to have a jpx based rom out just now - version 5.0.

has anyone ever had a funny sms message center missing problem with these rom's? e.g. the message center number just disappears off the SIM for no apparent reason? You cant then send sms messages. I thought I recall some others having that problem earlier...

This is on darky's 5.5, a 2.2.1 jpu based rom.
