The $400 off an S20 at 2degrees, do the terms mean you can cancel near immediately, keep the saving and just repay the balance, because the TnCs do not mention the $400 saving......

https://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/mobile/samsung/s20-ultra?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIm8Kcibyt6QIVQdeWCh2MNwLPEAAYAiAAEgI_3vD_BwE

"Saving: $400 savings available when you purchase a S20 Ultra or S20+ outright or interest free on a $40+ Pay Monthly plan. If purchased Interest Free: Phone balance repayable if you end your eligible plan."

I signed up on the s20 pre-order deal $200 off on $55+ plan, Wondering if I can change it to the $40 plan as the pb tech employee told me that I have to be on this plan for atleast 6 months during sign up.

Im thinking if you ask they will just say no :-(. But $400 off the base s20 sounds good.

The camera looks not bad?

The screen looks awesome? qhd hdr10 sammy oled must look awesome on HDR content.....

Its just a shame we again get shafted with exynos.

Yay Linus in the states is behind our cause of majorly inferior Exynos Galaxy models. Embarrassing Samsung as he puts it.

Are you going to do anything where the different processor would really matter? It won't run benchmarks as well but IRL (for most people) I don't think there's any real difference to the experience.

YMMV depending on your use case.

Gaming is where most people would notice a difference. If you don't game, you probably won't notice any difference.

And its only $200 off the base S20, $400 is off the S20+ and ultra, which its says in the terms and conditions you already quoted. The $400 deal also applies to devices bought outright, again in the terms and conditions you quoted. There is no lock-in, only that the balance of the phone must be paid off before you change plans with the MRO.

Thanks Shiny Chrome and Handle

Im considering a qualcomm S10 Note, but also eager to wait and see what the S20 delivers.

Yep I get most people dont care about not getting the qualcomm chipset and it delivers a similar IRL experience.

However I personally believe we deserve the same power and chipset and shouldnt have to justify what we do just to please others and samsung.

I miss my old Note and Im hoping the S20 delivers productivity software similar to the note 5 which was very much business focused.

Of the top 5 brands only Xiaomi and Realme increased in sales, the Xiaomi offers various platforms for great value. But they dont offer the notes productivity. Also Im a fan of dex mode. Very handy.

The qualcomm s10 is available readily in NZ, but havnt see the s20 SD version for sale here yet. I think the SD chipset s20 will be quite the pricey model.

I don't think it's about justifying the chipset, Samsung would make quite a lot more money from the Exynos so they would prefer to sell it. For whatever reason they have to sell the Snapdragon  chipset in the US.

Don't like Exynos (for what ever reason is important to you) then don't buy it. You just won't get a supported Snapdragon Galaxy in NZ.

Any reason you're looking at S20 instead of Note 10? If you want productivity in the Samsung range Note is probably still your guy IMO.

That's exactly it, the only reason Samsung uses SD in the States is Qualcomm's CDMA patents that mean if you want to work with Verizon and Sprint, you need to use Qualcomm chips (In saying that, they decided to use it in Korea for some unknown-to-me reason). Understandably, Samsung wants to control its supply chain and not be at the mercy of Qualcomm and its love of holding people over a barrel. They haven't done themselves any favors denying it's existence though.

I imagine in coming years we will see a massive improvement in Exynos chips though, now that they have stopped pursuing custom core development and appear to be focused on integrating ARM reference designs, like the SD 865. Their fab process is not quite as far advanced as TSMC's though, so there will still be some discrepancies, but the gap should be closed considerably for thermals and power usage. Hopefully the rumors of AMD providing a RDNA2 based GPU to replace the ARM reference Mali is some sort of providence to an AMD-style turn-around. There is also rumors of working with Google for a custom Exynos chip, so hopefully this pushes the game forward even further.

Also, the Note 10+ is enjoying a nice $600 off discount at the moment interest free or outright.

Edit: Looks like the reason they used the SD 865 in South Korea might be a bit closer to the truth than they want to admit.

I'm curious - does anyone else who's bought an unbranded S20 have RCS on any NZ carriers? I'm with Telstra using an S20+ bought directly from Samsung, and I can't get RCS - Telstra says it's because Samsung won't allow unbranded (those with CSC XSA, unsure what NZ's unbranded CSC is) phones to use RCS but Samsung says it's because Telstra asked them to disable the feature.

Not a non parralel import anyway.

Actually Ive been relying on a galaxy a30 as a personal phone for some time and outside the chipset I do like it.

I think the Note 10 is phone I most look at when it comes time to spending large. I can get a NZ import SD855 Note 10, so it really is the go to as you say. But you know what its like when something is just on the edge of release, wondering whether you will have buyers remorse.

SOOOO many good phones outside Apple, Samsung and Huawei now. But none offer the productivity, let alone the desktop mode of a Galaxy Note. Imo its one of the few true ultra book replacements. I do wish Apple would but that amazing chipset of theirs to professional productivity use. A Note with its power would be a beautiful thing.

Thanks, that really is a bargain for the ultra. How does it work getting the discount and changing providers? Can 2deg say no we want the $600 discount as well as the balance back?
