timmmay: The white charging cable that comes with the Moto G charges my S4 at 720mah, according to an app called "galaxy charging current lite". The S4 cable does 1200mah, and the cables from this thread are 1200mah as well. If you want your moto G to charge quickly best get a better cable.
The PSU was a Belkin Dual that supplies 2x1.2A.

As he phone restricts the charging to 1.2A I see no reason to get a higher rated charger or even a so called cable, plus no app can read the charging current any were near 100%

Sure, but the general idea is the cable that comes with the Moto G will charge the phone slower than a higher quality cable. I might try a charging test one day, but I probably don't care enough.
timmmay: My experience suggests the cable can make a difference to charge speeds. I'm not suggesting loss of current to heat, I'm suggesting that thinner cables can't carry as much current as easily. Like a six lane road can carry more traffic than a single lane road.

old3eyes: I agree with Zipdisk on this one. I don't see how the cable can influence the charge rate if it doesn't get hot.. The plug pack charger will though..
