So on the 30/10, after pestering Noel Leeming a little, I was able to pick up the Vodafone version of which they had 1 left.

The guy in store asked me if I was happy to take the Vodafone one instead of the telecom one...

Considering I originally wanted a Vodafone one anyway, but went for a spark one because they were discounted on labour day, I was more than happy to oblige!

Pb penrose had some non charging smart covers in stock when I was there today. Finally can put a cover on it and use the thing.

Not an edge showing or unprotected in my latest case! Spigen SlimArmor. It's amazing

How do the buttons feel on it? They look quite weird. Also, how have you found the kickstand durability so far?

Rappelle.... delayed answer but anyway!

My Sigen Slimarmor is the non-kickstand model, the side buttons are rubber, the volume buttons are fine to toggle, only a bit more 'firmness' noticed, the power button is quite firm to press, doesnt bother me too much so far, im happy enough that my note 2 is Safe n Sound in a tough Spigen case, since these pics, ive now has a Tempered Glass screen protector - have to say....I HIGHLY RECOMMEND a Tempered Glass Screen Protector!
WOW, 100% worth the $$! super easy to install, the clearest smoothest protector ive ever used! wish Id known that sooner!

heres my Note 2 Spigen Slimarmor... pics taken with my mates Note3

OK so how difficult is the whole rooting process. And what do you gain and or loss by doing it? I read lots about it but have never done it.

The rooting process is fairly simple...you can get chainfire's root and flash it through Odin...takes about a minute.

Also I've noticed that this didn't trip knox's counter

Its a straight forward process if you know your stuff, It gives applications access to your system files. If you are just a regular user , don't do it. There isn't really any need for rooting if you don't want to do custom roms or etc.

Follow this guide for rooting/custom roms/ etc :

Got a few main reasons why I root:

Remove ads from apps, backup apps and data to SD card, and bypass exchange security lock for outlook email account.

And a good custom rom will probably have those built in.

Rappelle: How does rooting and custom roms affect S-Pen usage? I am guessing a custom rom will make it 100% useless? I really want to root as I have done with all of my previous devices, but tripping knox is something I'm not sure I want to do considering it voids warranty. Hoping a method comes out that doesn't trip it.

It does not affect the functionality of any part of the phone, including the S-Pen, it would be useless if it did.

Don't hold your breath though, its unlikely to see a method come out without tripping knox , Note 3 has been out for a year now and still hasn't seen it.

The Exynos version of the note 3 can be reset with great difficulty. Not the qualcom though.

RDLV root method didn't trip Knox. Just didn't support the later firmware.

And for the s pen, you only lose the features on AOSP based custom roms, or any ports for that matter. All the Samsung based ROMs are fine. Been using Sweet ROM since Note 2. Good ROM to try if you're new to rooting.
