@NikT - will you be putting a more local link up for Flyme 6.1.0.0G dated yesterday which is here on Flymeos site?
Last time I dl from there took AGES, so if you're doing one nearer then I might just wait :)
<- don't ask me where I am - I haven't a clue: its a tech thing ;)
Housewife computerer: not particularly great at either.
And don't take me too seriously.

After running into a couple of secure apps that refused to install because my phone was 'rooted', I elected to start from scratch today. Wipe everything and start with a clean slate, then install the latest release.
All has gone well, the errant apps have now installed and I've pretty well got everything else back up and reinstated. BUT when I went to check that my call logs had been reinstated I discovered these ridiculous little cartoonish avatars beside most names. Previously these were colour coded initials of the contacts concerned. Now typically this wouldn't bug me if it was was my child's phone or perhaps even my wife's, but this is a phone I use in the company of clients.
One of whom, Ann D, is a good Christian lady in her 70s. Imagine her face should I open up contacts to update her details and the default avatar that has been assigned is the image below.
Any clues on how I can return the avatars to something more innocuous and less conspicuous?
P.
Hi (sorry haven't been contributed much over the years, thanks for keeping me thought )
First of all thanks to all the useful posts, I have so far manage to firmware update my M3 Note to Flyme OS 6 last night. Couldn't have done it without all the information here. Took me awhile to find Google Apps Installer App but did it at the end. [GMS Installer should a the keyword to use in search I think.]
Now I have a problem with Google Search bar on Home Screen does not work. I removed it and add it back in and still not working. Could you please point me a direction where I can resolve this problem? When I said it does not work is that when I tapped on the bar, I got no respond. As if it has become only a decorative picture on the home screen. Only option I had then is to hold my finger down and remove it.
Thanks :)
skykissme, I encountered a similar issue. What seemed to work for me was uninstalled/reinstall and then placed the Google widget onto the home screen.
Curiously after I did this Google no longer appears in the widgets list, but I do have a working Google search bar. Which also doubles as an access point for Google Now: just press the word 'Google' in the search bar.
It is in here that this tidbit was delivered: http://www.gsmarena.com/meizu_details_which_models_will_get_nougat_update_should_roll_out_july_10-news-25815.php
"Owners of the Pro 6 Plus, Pro 6, Pro 6s, Pro 5, MX6, M5 Note, M3 Note, and M3 Max will be able to register for the open beta program starting tomorrow through July 2. The actual update is expected to roll out on July 10."
From what I can see, having followed the links for the 'tidbit' I mentioned above, it would appear that the beta program for the Nougat release will be Chinese only at this stage.
Perhaps the PB guys can verify this for us. NikT??
Thanks P for your prompt answer.
I have tried that but still no go, so I ended up adding Google Search shortcut icon on the home screen instead not as convenient, but it will do for now. Perhaps (or more so Hopefully) when new update comes for both OS and Google out this problem may be fixed then, or I will try again at a latter point.

Not sure if this is it but open Settings -> Personalisation and see if "Flyme style avatars" has been turned on. It sounds like it has on your handset.

Yes, I had found it. Previous releases it was disabled by default, but this was enabled.
Did try edit my post over the weekend but for some reason it didn't post. I was redirected to the FUG instead.

Glad you got it sorted.

There's an automatic but occasional "check the FUG to see that you understand and agree with them" thingy that is happening these days. Probably because of a few too many claiming they "didn't know" it wasn't ok to personally bash someone rather than their opinion.
If it happens again then tick the Agree/Accept box and it will continue to where you can edit or post. You probably won't get it again for a while once you've done it.

I have a Meizu M2 which has been fine until the last update. I cannot install all of the Google Services.
GMS installer Google framework is ticked. Google Service has an exclamation mark saying file corrupted.
Play Store and Google Maps have an arrow pointing up next to them.
No Google services are working. Can anyone help please? Thank you.
Is everyone else getting the "Google Play Services consuming battery" message every day?
Is there a permanent fix/disablement for this?

Nope, haven't seen that.
