Anyone looking to buy it in NZ can now get it from Expert Infotech, North Shore, Auckland for $979.

Although mind you, Expert Infotech have a terrible reputation for after-sales support.

I just tested my Desire with the "Multitouch Visible Test" app that all the Nexus One videos have been using, and unfortunately, the Desire has the same "axis-flipping" problem as the N1. Probably due to the fact that they both share common parts; the AMOLED screen AND sensor(s).

On the plus side though, I really don't see any real-life problems this may pose. Since when have you had to have two thumbs on the screen, and have had to simultaneously swipe up/left with one thumb and down/right with the other? :s

I've had the Desire for nearly a week, and have not seen/experienced any multitouch issues, so to me, it doesn't make a difference for my everyday use, no matter what the results from the app show :)

Has anyone not paid GST?

Was considering of ordering one, sending it to my sister in Edinburgh and getting her to send it back to me as a gift. Although I probably won't as it is fairly dodgy and would have to pay two lots of shipping.

Wont you have to pay VAT in that case anyway?

You could do what I did with the Nexus One and use Shipito. A bit slower but can save you the GST.

UK VAT is higher than NZ GST. (17.5% vs 12.5%)

Don't do this.

Right, I rang up as I was tired of waiting. Turns out they had the wrong contact number for me and have been trying to call me for charges since the 16th. I paid $127. The guy was quite helpful but said the package was still in the UK, or is it?

Saw on Twitter yesterday the Desire is in the Telstra store in Melbourne now so I'm going to go and check it out today. I'm interested in what mobile Foxtel is like, wonder if it is full res 25 frames etc or if it is choppy 15fps 320x240 video.
