Even with stock, crappy Eclair I was getting a solid day at least.

I get nearly a full day without using my phone much. It's the screen that seems to chug the batteries the most. My screen usage is always 95%+ of the battery. for example today I'm at 56% after 7hrs usage with the Display using 95% with a time on of 1h40m

lokhor exactly what kernel/rom/modem firmware are you actually running?

do you have any of wifi/3g/gps on all day at all? do you have "background data" and "autosync" ticked at all? just so i can understand how you use the phone to drain it like that... :p

I use JuiceDefender which schedules the data on for 1 minute every 15 minutes, although I tend to have data disabled apart from when I'm using it anyway. I listen to music for ~40 minutes driving to work and read ebooks (black background, white text) on my breaks at work. I have never had good battery life and when I first got my SGS with Eclair I was lucky to get 8hrs before it died. It tends to last until bedtime now at least.

it doesnt sound like youre doing anything unreasonable. what brightness is your screen set to, and while listening to music on your drive is the screen mostly off or on?

i used to be a big juicedefender/ATK wh0re until other readings convinced me this was counterproductive to android's method of operation. especially heard bad things about juicedefender's own battery drain and indeed noticed performance drop when i had it installed. i even paid for ultimate juice. got rid of it all and never looked back, all task killers gone etc. never been better. dunno if youve tried getting rid of all that but id strongly suggest it.

are you sure your background data and autosync are disabled?

Just wondering what's the state with custom flashing on Telecom's Samsung i9000T. I've dabbled with flashing my Captivate and love what's possible, now I'm wondering what the options are for friends interested in the i9000T.

With the Captivate I've stuck in the Captivate forums on XDA and flashed compatible sets of ROMs, kernels & modems, and I'm real interested in whether they're ok for the i9000T or whether even some of standard i9000-based builds work.

I set the screen to Autobrightness. Used to always have it on 0%, it made no difference. I don't use ATK just JuiceDefender. I don't want to disable Background Data or Autosync as that defeats the purpose of having a smartphone.

Someone else in the #romkitchen room let me know earlier in the week. My response to him was "it's for girls". I'm not a girly girl.

I do wonder how popular it will be. Maybe boyfriends/husbands/partners or whoever might flash it for their female (better halves). It doesn't seem that's an abundance of women who are flashing their phones. And that also is a very general statement.

So, the link. Haven't even looked at it. I know I wont flash it, even though I happily made a pink android battery icon. That's my limit and I felt a bit daft doing that. It was more experiementing in the kitchen than needing something pink on my phone. Thank you anyway :-D

My girlfriend hates pink. She has a Bada phone that she swaps the theme on constantly (it has themes built in)

That's starting to sound more like there's a problem with the brightness responding to any change. So maybe even though you've got it set to auto, it's not recognised. You said you put it down to 0% and it also made no difference.

Have you had your phone next to another that's on auto brightness to see if maybe your phone is on full even though it's meant to be on auto. And same when they put theirs to 0%, how does it compare to your own?

I wonder how that can be tested more beyond doing some comparisons. Though if the comparisons show a noticeable difference, I'd say you could easily take your friends phone into the retailer, show them, then get something done with yours.

Meant to say, bought a new micro USB cable last Saturday. Was too lazy to order one from the site you'd previously provided.
Popped into Vodafone while I was at the mall (detest shopping, but picking up tickets for our OS holiday was worth the trip) and asked about the USB cable. $19.95 which I didn't think was too bad. Though she pointed out it wouldn't charge the phone. Bugger that. Off to DSE we went. Got what I wanted for the same price and it does charge the phone.
Hubby said I needed to buy two, one to leave at home, one to take to work. He'd spent a good 20 minutes going through my office space and my bag looking for my missing cable.

I think it might have wandered out of the building with the same person whose nicked my pinafore (kept on the clothes hanger in the ladies bathroom). Cue is not a cheap brand. I will miss that item of clothing. I just hope it wasn't a bloke!

It makes a difference in brightness just not in battery life.

Does anyone have a download link for the XXJPY modem?

I flashed a new DOC Rom, but used the JL2 modem, which doesn't seem to work with Vodafone?

Look for a modems link on the first page of the doc thread. Btw I disabled juice defender and tasker last night my battery went from 70 to 19 overnight. That was one of the cheap chinese ones.
