Neets:
Shrapnel: Who's using Docs rom? A bit of research has made me believe it to be a lot faster and stable than Darkys, what do you guys think?

Once upon a time for kicks I installed Darky's rom.  But only ran it for a short time.  Apart from that I've stuck with Docs roms.  I don't have any problem with it at all that makes me want to go to anyone elses Rom.

Likewise - the problem is now though, that fast is never fast enough.  It's crazy I know, but you get used to the speed over time, and after a while it becomes the norm.

Agreed. I think I'm going to take a stab in the Magical Kitchen, downloading my rom speedmod, JS3, and R64's white theme. Well see how this goes. The best part about this phone is the amount of customizations available for it, might need to make a few donations

Hmmm. . . . pays to make sure you download the CWM version of Hardcore's kernel, rather than flashing the Odin version via CWM, and then wondering why your phone just sits there.

Not that I just did that of course. . . . . . . .No sir, not at all. . . . . . Embarassed

So when I make a rom at Doc and Stefunels Kitchen I don't just flash it with CWM? Shouldn't Speedmod just be integrated when the kitchen generates the rom?

Yes it is, assuming you selected the Speedmod kernel.  And yes you flash it in CWM, and if it's a different base than your previous rom, then do a factory reset first.

when you generate your rom, you can use the QR code (scan with barcode scanner or the like) and then download the rom directly to your phone.  You'll then need to move it to your /sdcard.  Easy peasy :-)

@Shrapnel - sorry for any confusion with my silliness; yes, you flash the ROM (which contains the kernel of your choice) from CWM, but if you want the 'bleeding edge' version of the kernel, you download it (the CWM version, not the Odin version!) and flash as you would a ROM.  It takes about 5 seconds.

@Neets - Can I plead in my defense that I was watching a particularly nasty episode of Criminal Minds, and chatting on Facebook whilst attempting my flash; you of all people should know the limitations of the male multitask! Wink

If you do it right!

Watched the same episode and yes I winced more than once.  But I stuck with Twitter from the phone and not FBing.  Oh, and went to Wikipedia to see if JJ is really gone - yes :(  My hubby does alright, after all, he's got me to tell him what to do, when to do it, and how it should be done Laughing  Poor Mr Neets.

Off Topic:  have you noticed the new "stalk" button under your profile details on the left hand side?  I've not pressed the button, but it looks new to me.  Why would you want to stalk?  Or what does stalking do?  Ok stalkers, own up and confess, and tell me what you get for your troubles.

Just flashed Speedmod kernel, now have CWM recovery, now to decide which custom rom to install, whether to cook one in the rom kitchen or try out darky's rom. Any ideas/suggestion...

Let me know how it goes, and if you find it better than Darky's/worth changing to Doc's.

Wildly off topic but no spoilers for TV shows that some of us might be recording please ;)

If you did a headcount of recent contributors to the thread, you'd probably find it was split right down the middle.  Though it sounds like people are willing to try out Doc's rom, while those who have tried out Darky's are comfortably happy to stay put in the Doc camp.

Or I could have got my numbers mixed up.  It's pretty easy to flash over and over so I reckon try them both!
