Normally there is a China version running Hydrogen OS and a global version with Oxygen OS. If they are releasing through US carriers then there maybe specific versions for them also..

Crazy how you still can't order direct from OnePlus to NZ, I remember ordering my OnePlus One direct from them from China.

Going by previous gen Oneplus, you could quite easily flash a Chinese version running Hydrogen OS to Oxygen OS directly from within the phone, by downloading the necessary firmware file. This would also offer GMS support. Hardware is the same for both Chinese & global version apparently.

Hope the same applies this time around.

I was hoping NikT would drop by since PBTech is the only legit OnePlus reseller in NZ

Since we can't @ him, let me try...

NikT, NikT, NikT

...Did it work?

I think a Sheldon knock would be best...

(knock, knock, knock) "NikT?"
(knock, knock, knock) "NikT?"
(knock, knock, knock) "NikT?"

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Yeah would love some clarity on models, with my OP5T I got a Chinese market version and loaded oxygenOS on it and it's been a brilliant phone, I'm hoping the Chinese market OP8 is same hardware as global so I can rinse repeat hopefully next week 🤞🏻 but don't want to hit the button without some certainly

They're coming!

ETA and pricing TBC, but I can confirm you'll be able to buy the OnePlus 8 series officially in NZ with local warranty in the near future.

Top man, any word about the LG V60 while you are here? I know you have mentioned before about it having some relationship to the 5g roll-out, is that still true?

Important point to note for anyone considering importing - the Chinese and Indian models do not support band 28.

The V50 wasn't a happening thing in NZ both because it would have been ~$1999, and because it was only available in region as a Telstra-branded variant. No word on V60 outside of North America and SK yet, unfortunately wouldn't be holding my breath for ANZ. LG have said globally that they're focusing on those two regions for their highest-end. A shame as it looks very nice.

The latter, with thanks to our friends from that camp. For reference, to get such a charger built and certified, you'd need to commit to, say, a minimum of 100,000 units of it. We've joked about "buy a phone, get ten chargers" as it's just not feasible with charging spec changing every few months. You can see the same from other brands like Oppo and Huawei, where they'll use the currently available ANZ fast charger rather than build and certify a huge number for one or two phone models. One day we'll get there.

is PBT going to sell the OP fast wireless charger too? Since the OP8 pro can only do 30W wireless charge on its OEM wireless charger. Also any word on the new Oppo Find X2 pro or the Oppo ace 2?
