OK, so I'm not too fussy about the camera, and while I am definitely a little wary of the GNex's lack of an external memory slot, it's not a deal killer for me.

I am curious as to how the Note measures up to it for development purposes - any comments, people?

Also, the GNex on einfo seems to be missing 3G specs - is the i9250 different from the GT-i9250 listed on by mobicity?

All this talk about it lol i just went and bought a white Galaxy Note today, love it! its huge but i have big ape hands so i can still txt with one hand, just. But awesome phone man.

i bought a galaxy nexus on wednesday, its by far the best phone ive ever owned.

with google chrome on my pc and google chrome on my phone, the way it syncs the bookmarks, and i can open tabs on my phone that is open on my pc, is just sensational

ics and this phone, without any laggy skin, is incredible...

It is pretty awesome having naked ICS on that phone... feels awesome, Im gonna get to work making a AOSP ICS rom for this Note tonight.... then itl be perfect

yeah man, first time you can say that android is beautiful...

couple of minor issues with this phone:

* notification sounds are way too low - however i have fixed it by downloading volume+, now its just fine
* led light was too short - downloaded lightflow, and you can customise the led lights for different actions, missed call has its own colour, messaging, gmail... and it will keep blinking until i open that particular app....which is exactly what i want

so yeah....overall, i am really impressed with this phone, i just cannot see myself going to another phone with some sort of skin on top...i hope, lol

Dont think so.. def a little bit but not much, mostly at colour sat etc..

Where to start with this... Firstly, a single photograph doesn't constitute proof by any means, but the one you've shown does illustrate several reasons why the S2's is a lot better than the Nexus - first of all the Nexus has bucket loads of chromatic aberration - just click almost anywhere on the sky and check out all the artifacting at full zoom. Secondly the 'graininess' an earlier poster alluded to in the Nexus shots illustrates the disparity in detail capture. You'd see that even more if you viewed the S2 shots sized-down to 5mp to match the Nexus shots. As to whether the Nexus has better colour reproduction, again, bearing in mind this is a single shot, I think in that particular shot the Nexus probably has it over the S2 BUT you really have to be there to say for sure AND colours can fixed but the other things can't really.

Worth noting also that the source of the photos is Haemorrdroid's. I often see Andy posting in at XDA, and sometimes read his stuff, nice guy who says a lot of worthwhile things when he isn't talking about photography. He's been taken apart at XDA for some of his conclusions about this or that phone's camera prowess, and generally with good reason. I don't trust his opinion where photography is concerned.

For me the worst thing about the Nexus camera is the shonky focusing which seems to come with it's execution of ultra-fast capturing, that's far more an issue in day-to-day use and that's the main issue you see regular day to day users complaining about.

Now all of that said, is the Nexus camera "good enough" for most users? Sure, but it's quite lacking compared to several others and there is no getting around that.

^ multiple reviews and direct comparisons that I've read put the S2 camera ahead of the galaxy nexus camera. check gsmarena.com

However even better is the Sony Xperia S, which I think is probably the best smart phone that you can currently get (awaiting the s3)

I dont notice heaps of chromatic aberration in either of those photos but the s2 is definitley the best photo there by a long way as it is so much clearer without the graininess.
I have a nexus and havent noticed it on mine but saying that i havent looked that close.
The other thing with the nexus is it doesnt have gorilla glass screen. It is fortified glass. What that means in real everyday life I dont know and hope I dont drop the nexus to find out.

Guess what i done lol, because my boys at Expert Infotech look after me (spend so much) they let me bring my Note back and i got a iPhone 4S lol, coming from me... thats pretty out of the blue! decided note was 2 big and the samsung touchwiz wake screen delay was just far to much for me

Too big? The Note? Nah ;p

You can fix the wake lock BTW, just install ICS :)

Hahaha yea man, I figured I'd get used to it but I just don't really like it for a phone.. If I could have it just as a tablet gadget then it would be cool but yea, problem is I don really have the time to make a good ics rom right now.

I'll post my thoughts soon but I like it so far.

So it turns out the LTE version einfo is selling is distinctly different to the non-LTE version in terms of spectrum. LTE 700MHz and CDMA 800/1900MHz, as opposed to the non-LTE's GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz and WCMDA 850/900/1700/1900/2100 MHz.

Which means the LTE version won't run on XT, although I'm not quite sure what means for Vodafone or 2Degrees networks - help, people?

Judging from those specs the LTE version won't run on any NZ network... einfo fail
