Where did you read about refunds?

Friend works at Spark, said they are recalling them - and to turn it off and bring it in tomorrow for a full refund and get something different.

Like most of us, not at all happy with this prospect. Got mine from Vodafone and I don't want to 'get something different'. I chose this phone FFS!

I won't do anything until I hear proactively from Vodafone. If I wasn't a GZ member, at this point I wouldn't know anything about this. Will take the risk of an explosion in the meantime - may well be very wrong but this has the makings of a storm in a teacup.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

100% Agree. Seems like people are making more of this than need be, given as far as I understand it, the batteries affected aren't sold outside of a very small region (market wise).

The problem may not be that abnormal or unheard of. However think of the people who want to buy or have pre ordered the phone and now have to wait. Think of us who have the phone but have no way of knowing if the phone has the faulty product or not. The only possible way to know is from the s/n which is imprinted physically on the battery itself and not digitally within the phone. Highly likely why its a massive recall due to the inability to identify via software.
35 devices out of a million, not a whole lot. But thats so far, numbers could be higher. The source appears to be korean battery manufacturers. Who knows how many there are, other than samsung.

Yeah - well have now read #sidders80 post just above - so WTF? If we have to "get something different", what about those of us who have bought N7 cases that we now won't be able to use?

Sorry - probably silly - but I still don't buy this. [Shakes head in the sand]

EDIT: This story on Engadget is quite balanced - and indicates that Samsung will replace 'like for like' - which makes sense:
